Will ESO make it

Post » Wed Feb 05, 2014 8:32 pm

most games bring nothing new to the table, instead they improve on previous ideas. why would this game be different? i mean it blends tes with mmo, thats new.

triangular =/= wheel

Like triangle =/= circle

Would you buy a car with triangular wheels because it was used?

Brings nothing new to the table? are you bloody serious?

Name me open world mmo's with real time combat, and no, gw2 isn't one.

Name me a mmo which has a rich lore like ESO does, apart from lotro.

Name me a game mmo pvp is located on a massive landmass which was subject to a game itself in The Elder Scrolls oblivion.

Name me a RPG which turned into a MMO.

Name me a game where the guard gets an arrow to the knee.

You missed out the sweet rolls.

But just to correct you:

Warhammer was/is a successful RPG as well as table top game (Dice and paper) and has a LOT of lore. Actually, I think they stuffed up this game because it wasn't like the RPG.

SWTOR was KOR and this was a sucessful computer game RPG. Hence the MMO.

Not disagreeing with your points, as I do agree with you, but there are inaccuracies here.

When looking at swtor and lotro, it isnt previous games that made it famous at all, but Films, then secondarily books. DId warhammer have a mmo? i dont even know, so cant really argue about that

I just hope they fix things quickly. After playing MMOs for over a decade I am constantly annoyed at how freaking slow companies seem to respond to player concerns, bugs, and balance issues. I often believe that a little too much they make changes based upon only their own vision of the game with little to no care given to the wishes of the people they are making it for.

Like Blizzard for example. They've made truly obscene amounts of money with World of WarCraft. Yet they will ignore bugs that are very troublesome to players, and especially glaring imbalances. They don't ever want to fix or polish, they just add more stuff. You really need a balance of both. And the LONG DRAWN OUT PERIODS OF TIME BETWEEN CONTENT UPDATES. Good god. In Cataclysm (last expansion) we were stuck with no updates for over a year. And half the updates since have purely been more stupid daily quest hubs. All because they decide to cancel the expansion they already had partly done to instead pull a misguided and Loreless expansion out of their butts aimed at attempting to recapture their diminishing Asian playerbase. Which failed BTW, so good call on that.

But none of them take it as seriously as they should. But I really hope ESO does well. Not only because I want to play and enjoy it, but because I also want ESO to stiffly and repeatedly kick Blizzard in their bulging complacency so perhaps they'll start trying harder.

No it wont.

It's going to be F2P within 1 year. Only reason it wont happen sooner it's because they are milking the Elderscrolls franchise and people who like it will buy it just for that. Put the same mechanics in another game and it will fail miserably. ESO doesnt bring anything new that other games didnt do before, unless a LOT of thing changed since last beta.

Read one of my previous posts. Your argument makes no sense. You're probably a really devoted fan of WoW who wants to put people off playing this game. And you're not allowed to comment on beta. Its a shame, the night has come upon WoW, if that is the game you play.

Have you even tryed it? Sadly I cant discuss it because of NDA, but most of your point are wrong, or BS.

Mostly the PVP and the world size one

I mean, I really like Elderscrolls and I would have really loved if ESO was awesome, but sadly, it has nothing special that havent been done before in better ways.

Gnomechompski- I have tried it, and you sir obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Not everything that is in the final product is in the beta. =)

Yes i have several times. And i have no idea where your points are coming from. If you dont like it, fine, dont criticize it, just go and play swtor or something. Let people have their own view of the game.

Having a view, an opinion is one thing. You can love this game, I have no problems with that.

But saying that this game is revolutionary, that everything is new and never been done before, like that real time combat and that rich lore arguments are just wrong

Are they? I have never seen that before, and when it comes to games tes probably has the best lore, period.

Right there with you Oreyn. This game is not 100 percent revolutionary, but it has many MANY things going for it that hardly any SUCCESSFUL mmos have done. And I loved the beta, and am INSANELY excited for the full product.

World size? You do know that the beta has a limited access to the game, right?

The full game is not there yet.

yes ESO will make it.

"normal" people around the world have zero clue what is in the game, and still they post here in forums and cry a river, but ye ESO will still make it.

there is a normal trend, change makes people cry

there is a 2nd trend, minority always cry

my 2c

As I recall, this was a question as to Elder Scrolls Online and if it would be able to succeed or not. Yet now I see people ganging up on those that feel it will not and spouting comments 'if you don't like it go play something else' and just posting slander. That is not the way these forums work and you are not the one dictating terms on what people are allowed to say.

EDIT: This was not a suggestion and my post is not open to 'debate'.

I beg to differ :)

Even though the MMO turned into a p2w grindfest, Star Trek can probably beat the Elder Scrolls lore. :P

That being said, I'm trying to stay positive about ESO and everything I have seen thus far strengthens my belief in that.

Yes a lot of people complain about the NDA and not enough information available, a lot of people complain about the pricing, but the more I read those complaints I feel that people who are complaining so hard and much complain because they need to complain.

This! So much!
