Okay guys, I think you've all heard about the random freezing/crashing with windows 7.

Well, I've been screwed double. After trying to get the game to work propperly for 3 days I've pretty much given up hope. I can not run this game. :brokencomputer:

main problems are (I think)

1) windows 7 home premium 64 bit
2) nvidia geforce GT 330M

windows 7 is not oficially supported for fallout 3, and the Nvidia 300 series are not a part of the supported video cards (even though the 200 series are supported)

If anyone could give me an original fix, I would love to hear it. But I think I most likely already tried it.


So here's my question, Will this game EVER be patched so I can play it? Or should I just try to get my money back?

I was just thinking, maybe I could just install windows XP on my notebook as well. And just start windows XP instead of windows 7 when I want to play fallout3. Does anyone know if this is possible and if it might work?

Unless it's fan-made, don't hope for a patch for FO3 to be more compatable with Windows 7. You're better off tweaking your computer so you can run FO3.

So.... Anyone know if it's possible to install xp on my notebook and than just run that, instead of windows 7 when I wanne play fallout?

I run the game perfectly on Windows 7 x64.
Post a dxdiag.
XP: Go to Start->run, type “dxdiag” and hit enter. Click the Save All Information button near the bottom right. This will save a Dxdiag.txt in C:\ by default. Then open the dxdiag.txt and copy/paste the information into your post.

It should be possible to run both on the same system. That's how Vista works at any rate and I strongly suspect Windows 7 will be the same, though I have yet to try it for myself. Install XP first in it's own partition, then add Windows 7 in another one. When you boot up your machine, you will be given the option of which OS you can use. I have an XP/Vista dual-boot system on my computer so I can switch back and forth if I want to. I still use XP for most of my things, and only occasionally switch to Vista.

This would be why, the game doesnt like to run on any of the Intel integrated graphics chipsets. If it is one of the laptops with a dual GPU solution you want to try to use the latest drivers.

I believe I have all the latest drivers, which exact driver do I need to get the latest from? And btw, in my Nvidia menu, I force the laptop to use my NVIDIA geforce GT 330M. So how can this still be a problem?

Bumb? I would really like to play this game, so what driver do I need? I downloaded the latest driver for my intel chipset as well as for my nvidia card... anyone?
