Will we ever see the Dwemer?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 11:17 am

Do you think this is possible? A return of the Dwemer?
I think it would be so awesome! I find their society so interesting, they are (in my opinion) the most interesting race. Maybe one day we will see them return to Nirn, and maybe even as a playable race?!

We've already seen the Dwemer spectres haunting the ruins of Vvardenfell, and, even more, we've seen a living Dwemer, Yagrum Bagarn.

I'd be okay with maybe one or two more exceptions where we get the chance to talk to or see a Dwemer or two, but that's as far as I'll go. As far as a full-on return, no, absolutely not. As a playable race, it would be a complete disgrace to the lore. One of these days I need to actually make that big topic about why it's a terrible idea to make the Dwemer return...

Since Todd Howard said Lore would be rebooted or something I would not be surprised if they are playable in TES VII.

When did he say that? Anyways a return of the dwemer would make no sense at all.

Agreed. Last time I looked into it I think the general consensus was that they all zero-summed (A side effect of reaching CHIM and not retaining your identity). Yagrum Bargarn was someplace else at the time (Forgot where, maybe another realm? Can't remember, I'll have to play MW again.) Of course I may be imagining things and formulating a hypothesis out of nothing :P

So theoretically, it's impossible for them to make a return fully if they did zero-sum. No exceptions.

There was a Dwemer ghost in Morrowind http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:Radac_Stungnthumz so maybe there could be some Dwemer more like this.... out there somewhere...... :cold:

Unless if there's some radical fringe sect of Dwemer that wanted nothing to do with the plans of the greater race (very possible), they're all gone forever. Besides, does this world need another race of Elves?

I prefer the mystery of vanished Dwemer, myself. There is not enough mystery in video games, I feel.

Yeah, I can agree with this. The lore in TES is imo very well written and they have with the Dwemer created a great mystery surrounding them.

I do however think or at least would like a few more instances like the ones mentioned with Radac Stungnthumz or Yagrum Bagarn.

Well what they might do is in a DLC you go back in time with a group of wizzards heading to Vvanderfell to help clean up Red Mountain and you go back in time the leader of the expedtion gives you a quest to stop the dwemer from using the heart wich would save Vvanderfell in the future as well and the dwemer.

I wonder if we can somehow sunder/defeat Numidium in a way that "releases" the Dwemer from their brass-flesh prison.

Except that event would VASTLY change all of the Lore after that point and how it would affect various parts of TES History is hard to say and would likely piss off about 90% of the fanbase when they made chages people did not agree with. The Dunmer would not do THAT! The Argonians wouldn't act that way! That is not how I would imagine Dwemer at all!

I think it would be a bad move man, sorry. The mystery is what keeps getting newer fans hooked into some of the Lore and makes them more interested in the game.

I actually have a theory about the arguement "The dwemer are all gone" but this is just a theory.

So basically I figure that Divath Fyr managed to find a cure for coprus disease and cure/cloned Yagrum using the same method he did for his daughters, thus creating a new race of dwemers.

Problem with this theory is one we don't know if Fyr or yagrum are still alive and two Yagrum would probably refuse the cloning.

Also personally I'd rather see or play a Maormer!

Even if Divayth would clone Yagrum then what's the point? How many people can he actually create? Yagrum is also infected with Corprus and we have no idea how that would affect anybody. I'd say the chances are rather small, and it's still definitely not something I would want to see.

As for the mystery of the Dwemer, there is a lot there, but none related to them dissapearing. They are the golden skin of the Numidian, nothing more nothing less. We already know. The other mysteries solved would just be incredibly boring, everybody would learn their technology and that would svck.

The Dwemer using the Heart was not at all responsible for the doom of Vvardenfell, and the Dwemer did not need "saved." Their disappearance was intentional.

Not even then. Very few dwemer knew what Kagrenac was doing. The one that survived wasn't in mundus, oblivion, or even aetherius at the time of the uncreation.

Well the simple answer is no.

The long answer is...not unless you count ghosts.
