Will faction choice matter in the future? Faction help.

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 2:01 pm

I am at the point where I have to choose who to help me build a device to get into the Institute. I wanted to make a save so I finish the game with all factions, but because I don't want to save exploring the whole map 4 times, I want to save the main quest until the end. That is if factions do matter. Then again playing expansions 4 times if changes do matter seems a lot to me aswell.

So basically I'd like you to give me reasons to just pick one and get it over with.

1. Can you use Ventibirds if you destroy the Brotherhood? Using console, I don't mind. Institute grenades?

2. Is there anything that I'll really miss?

3. Which faction to choose?

In all Fallout games I was pro BOS, cause of their cool tech and power armors. Now I don't really like them, their reasons and their attitude. Plus they have a lame airballoon as a base, not a vault or something.

Then we have the Institute that wants to enslave everything as I read. Yet they have the best tech, so there goes BoS's pro, and there goes me prefering them due to tech, else I wouldn't consider siding with them.

Then we have "The Railroad". The faction that has the best attitude, the worst tech and the most unbelievable lame name ever. Seriously? Railroad? You could name them "Anarchy 69", League of Assassins", "Cult of Shadows" or whatever, yet they got named "The Railroad". Something to relate to spies and secrecy, but no, Railroad. Railroad.

Then the Minutemen, that are the most annoying bunch of Prestons ever, again with a stupid name.

Thanks for reading.

I've done all the endings and my fav was the BOS ending, you wont really be missing out on much if you choose a different ending apart from some diff dialouge obviously and a very cool secene for one of the factions endings, but other than that it wont really change the game that much apart from a one or two factions being unavailable to you, I'd also say the RR and Institute were fun endings to!

And no you can't use the Vertibird if you destroy the BOS

Its railroad as in the Underground Railroad. The organization led by Harriet Tubman that went into the confederacy and with a series of safe house and abolitionist followers liberated slaves from plantations and owners. The railroad is that to synths and in the Capitol wastes human slaves.

Also this should be in spoilers.

Actually both the Minutemen and railroad get to keep a vertibird. You have to declare war on the brotherhood by killing an important npc like danse while in the Minutemen and it has to be before you finish the main.

Build the transporter with the Minutemen, that way any of the 4 factions are still playable. If you build it with either the BoS or the Railroad, you're pretty much stuck going down their paths.

- BoS / Minutemen / Railroad - have vertibirds

- Institute has teleportation

- BoS / Minutemen - have quests to protect the commonwealth

- RR has quests to kill institute stragglers & protect synths

- Institue has quests protecting institute assets

u don't get anything for ending the main quest , just helping u're faction of choice

I chose the RR. Here's why, in no particular order.

1) The RR suits my PC the best. He being the sly mofo that he is.

2) Tinker Tom is the man!

3) I want Maxtons coat, that thing looks comfy as [censored]! And the only way to aqquire it is to pry it off his dead body.

4) Deacons perk. (I prefer to dedicate my PC to one faction, and only one faction. At least until the main story plays out).

5) Ballistic weave. (Although there are others ways to aqquire weave)

Just choose the faction that best suits your PC. There isn't any reason to do otherwise IMO.

To be honest, in My playthrough the Minutemen attacked BoS after doing the MQ. And I do kept the Vertibird for the Minutemen.

Spoiler
Almost all of these can be obtained before the ending. Tinker Tom should be sent to a mental hospital. Maxson's Coat is the only thing worth mentioning for siding against the BoS, but I just have console command to spawn it, for fashion statement than anything since every else in the game looks ugly.

I personally go with the BoS or the Institute mostly for storyline reasons, but honestly though, there are not a lot of exclusive stuffs between each ending. If we go by ending vision, the Institute has the most positive tone for humanity as a whole out of any ending, which is why they try to make them sound so bad throughout the game.
