then why is there so much reading in their games?
then why is there so much reading in their games?
The Brotherhood didn't exactly offer more variation. I mean it's the same bloody mindless go to a kill quest as the rest of the game. Granted that's DB is suppose to be about killing things so it's completely understandable.
Excluding the radiant quests, less than half of the TG questlines involved actual theft and the rest were pretty the same old dungeon devolving nonsense that you could expect from other quests.
No not just because mods... because Bethesda created an awesome game with plenty to do and lots of replay value...
The Creation Kit can't come soon enough.
Won't be able to fix alot of the main problems with Fallout 4, but it'll be nice to at least have all the tools to the sandbox to play with.
Skyrim failed without mods because it did not have a reward system in place. The world was great as usual but there was never any point in doing anything in it because you never got a reasonable reward for doing anything. "Reasonable reward" in this case means receiving something that was at least as good, preferably better, than anything you could make or buy. Just the opposite was true for Skyrim since you crafted the most powerful stuff in the game no matter what. Add in that the mechanics were completely biased towards melee warriors and against ranged or magic and you have a very poor entry in the TES franchise (without mods, again... but even they can only do so much).
BGS took note of these issues with FO4 but failed to fix the bias against energy weapons (heaven knows why Todd and his team are so against energy weapons while favoring boring ballistic conventional stuff). However, the crafting and building blows Skyrim away... or any other game, really. Mods can easily fix the issue with the idiotic restrictions on basic building materials/resources (wood, steel) so that players can build at least ONE full-sized, well-established base to operate from. BGS can also fix this sort of issue in a patch or DLC (e.g., they are making copper more available in the newest patch by removing the need to use it for wiring which should help with the ridiculous limitations on power resources that are mainly used for aesthetics, anyway).
Finally, the player base is far larger than prior games as has happened with each BGS product release. More players means more diversity and more creation of content.
So yes, it will easily equal Skyrim.
I'd say the question to ask is whether or not it will equal Morrowind, not Skyrim... or even Oblivion. Both of those games continue to be very popular 10+ years after their release.
Of course it will, that's why mods are made and mods are played. Whenever they get the stupid GECK out.
This has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever read.
So you want people who aren't happy with Fallout 4 to abandon the Fallout franchise? Telling a large group of people that Fallout is no longer for you is very bad marketing strategy. When it comes time to making/selling Fallout 5. Bethesda is going to want to market to the people who bought their previous games, Fallout 4, Fallout 3 and I will include New Vegas. They will also hope those people will get new people interested in Fallout 5. "Hey you should play Fallout 5!"
If Bethesda took your approach to marketing. The people who feel Fallout is no longer the series for them won't be coming back and worse they will tell others why they shouldn't play Fallout 5. And those people won't just go a way. Bad reviews spread faster than good reviews, it's just how it works.
Heck we don't even have to look as far down the road as Fallout 5 but for the DLC of Fallout 4. If the people dissatisfied with Fallout 4 feel the DLC will add nothing of value to the game they won't buy them for what $20 a DLC.
The dissatisfaction of Fallout 4 isn't limited to a small group of older fans or "Obsidian fans" there are plenty of Bethesda fans who aren't thrilled with the game, gamers in general aren't thrilled with the game.
The reason why Bethesda set up these forums isn't so we can worship them like Gods, to keep them alive with our constant unwavering praise. It is to give them free market research in the form of feed back. Giving them nothing but praise doesn't help them. They will keep ignoring what people aren't happy with and it will just keep making people unhappy with their work.
Having people give up on future Fallout works is the last thing Bethesda's marketing department want. And I am sure the developers can handle constructive criticism. If they can't then man did they sure picked the wrong career path.
As everyone has said, it all depends on the mods.
Just to add.. I'm already bored to death in FO4. I'm level 56 - nothing even comes lose to killing me and the game has little replay value. The story is set.
The building is fun, but the UI makes it's a job. So that needs work badly.
In other words, we meet the modding kit soon. maybe after 6 months when the DLCs are out and more mods I think otherwise.
The issues with relying on mods to keep a game in the spot light is that the people not using PC don't have mods (or do they I haven't been keeping up) and will someone buy Fallout 4 a year from now just to download a bunch of mods? They won't be playing what Bethesda put out for us to play but what the modding community made. Thus giving them a false impression of Fallout 4.
There are birds all over Fallout 4. No ants, bees or fish though which is odd because they are in other Fallouts.
Still Fallout 4's ecosystem makes more sense then Fallout 3's. That ones ones of the biggest criticisms of Fallout 3's world.
Bethesda's games have always relied on mods for longevity even New Vegas, this is nothing new. Do you honestly think that most of the modded Skyrim people are playing now resembles much of the vanilla game visually or mechanically? And yes mods are apparently coming to consoles though they will definitely not have all the mods PC might have.
Because a pseudo-radioactive wasteland is clearly going to be filled to the brim with that kind of life and not more awful mutant like creatures...
You may as well complain about Fallout 4 not having magic in it as well.
That said there are birds in the game as well as plenty of dead fish like creatures strewn about.
i fail to see why Fallout 4 will not be the same as Skyrim.
the game will get DLC, and mod tool this year. So a huge comunity will mod the crap out of this game make new campains and all that. Same as they did on NV or 3.
There is no reason why they cant. I mean u can mod out the voice if u dont like so u dont hear anymore. Or u can change the dialogue UI.
Mods will extend the longevity for sure but it will be able to be played for a long time even without them.
Turning it back to some outdated turn based or boring cowboy desert with over complicated dialogue won't make the game sell more... so yes you should stick to the old Fallouts if you want the tedium of menu crawling and over complex dialogue system that has no real purpose... most people like fallout the way it is now tuff that you want it to change to suit your own needs... seems very selfish of you...
Not to many people out there are suggesting that Fallout return to exactly the way what it was back in 1997/1998.
For Fallout to be more along the lines of Fallout New Vegas with more options for quest is what myself and a lot of people want.
New Vegas did very well and Bethesda is happy with it. From my time of the forum many people are happy with it. Many people like both Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
Trust me it's even funnier when TES fan, especially Skyrim ones criticize Fallout 4 for something that was a hundred times worse in those games.
And New Vegas was a tedious menu crawler with a over complicated dialogue system and a boring world map with bad exploration not to mention that stupid cowboy theme that doesnt suit Fallout at all... just face it Fallout is fine just the way it is right now... the majority of people love it... sorry if you cant enjoy it but that doesnt mean you should try to ruin it for everyone else just because YOU personally dont like it...
Another non argument that adds nothing to the discussion...
I could tell you the same thing about how to deal with people liking New Vegas. You don't like the game that is clear but lots of people do like it. I have seen lots of Bethesda fans say they like the game.
You should really go back and read the majority of your posts.
