Will Fallout 4 stand the test of time like Skyrim?

Post » Fri Jan 22, 2016 1:56 pm

>Over complicated dialog system.

>Has the same dialog system as Fallout 3 but with a few more skill checks.

>Tedious menu crawler.

>Has the same menu system as Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 is just a shiner version of the same menu (the pipboy)

As for New Vegas, while I'm not big on the world map, I do love the gameplay mechanics, the skills, Iron sights, weapon modding. Oh, it's what they brought into Fallout 4. Meaning if someone ends up calling New Vegas a tedious menu crawler, they are calling Fallout 4 the same. ;)

What about Bethesda? They were pleased with New Vegas. Are they haters? And if so what do they hate?

In Skyrim yes, but in Fallout 4? The most Thing what i read is my Bullet count. I really would like to see some Background Stories from the Fallout Franchise but it felt like just to be a Shooter. A Newcomer to the Franchise just know there is the Institute, BoS, Ghouls, Minuteman, Diamond City and whatever. No real big Stories to read here.

Where the Behemoth coming from? I really dont know it

So you no interest in having a civil conversation with other members of the forum?

This is a forum. Not everyone is going to have positive things to say about the game. From what I can see most people express what they have to say in a well thought out manner, also known as constructive criticism. I am sure there are some that just flat out say Fallout 4 svcks and disappear not long after. But lumping everyone who has something to say about Fallout 4 that doesn't full under the category of "Fallout 4 is pefect" in the same group isn't very helpful.

i agree with ur opinion, i know Witcher 3 is good, but i think so to that the Witcher 3 is over rate, not saying is bad, but as a RPG game there are better game, as a open world game there are better games (one of those at least for me is Fallout 4).

It's true! Bethesda had high praises for New Vegas. Guess they are nostalgic Bethesda hating teenage hipsters.

It was probably Bethesda themselves who tanked the user score on metacritic for FO4. It all makes sense now.

True enough. The only way I can see myself seriously getting into this game is if they have a leveling system overhaul. Unfortunately their design choices with dialogue has already ruined that beyond repairs unless people settle for unvoiced NPCs as well.

Dialogue system has already made it too linear to fix and the time and resources wasted for that.

+1 for sure. I loved Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics, but for me I prefer FPP gaming. I'm very much like a game along the lines of New Vegas.

 I dunno what to tell you if it was over complicated. Perhaps you're in the wrong genre of gaming.

Obsidian had a lot of the people that created Fallout and Fallout 2. They know way more about what suits Fallout than anyone.

If there is one thing I hate about Bethesda it's how much they hate themselves.

i notice you are here to defend people who "don't like the game", who cares if someone doesn't like the game, there's lots of games i don't like, but i'm not hanging out every day on the forums of those games, some people are just angry that bethesda owns the fallout franchise so they spend their life on fallout forums trashing the game, thats the real issue, someone without an agenda wouldn't spend so much time if any at all on a game forum for a game they don't like. its no big secret that the old rpg fans hate anthing fallout related that bethesda is part of, thats the issue, thats why people hang out on game forums of games they don't like, and most of them haven't played the game anyway, anyone can say "i played it and hated it and got bored with it" ROFL i can uasually tell within minutes if i'm gonna like a game or not and if i don't like a game i don't spend every day on a forum for the game after, so my guess is most people who "hate the game", haven't really played it in the first place.

just curious as to why you think bias against energy weapons?

in 3 & NV i would agree

but in 4 i think its reverse, i think this because although im unsure of exact numbers as im not playin g right now but my combat shotgun weighs over 24lbs, my sniper is over 22lbs, my combat rifle over 22lbs, i dont use the ugly ass assault rifle (not that the other guns arnt ugly too) but god thats even heavier, yet my laser rifle is about 8lbs

you can have a laser sniper, rifle, shotgun and auto and they all weigh about a third of their ballistic cousins and do more damage (dont know about laser shotty ive never used but am assuming due to laser rifle and sniper vs ballistic versions)

That's cute.

Anyone who has actually played the game would have zero criticism, therefore anyone who has criticism has not played the game.

Well thought out argument.

By the by, I stick around primarily for the Fan Fiction board (Fallout and sometimes Elder Scrolls), Mod board, and Universe/Lore.

Also I have owned every Fallout game, save the Burned Game, and every Elder Scrolls since Morrowind. So looks like your theory has some holes in it.

New Vegas is great, it's just wildly overrated.

It's especially funny when people say Bethesda pretends like New Vegas never happened, and ignores any improvements the game made... when Fallout 4 is very obviously influenced by New Vegas in a lot of ways.

This is beyond ignorant. First of, don't equate criticism with hatred. Someone can like something and still find flaws in it.

What's disturbing is blindly saying "omg this is the greatest it's perfect 10/10 don't change anything ever", that's ignorant, it's bad for the person saying it and it's also bad for the developers who don't get any meaningful feedback so they can build upon their current strong points and try to improve their weaknesses in future releases

And that's exactly the kind of symbiosis I'd like to see between Obsidian and Bethesda and between East Coast games and West Coast games (the latter of which will hopefully be a reoccurring thing)

See what the other studio is doing that works and incorporate it, see what the other studio is doing that doesn't work and fix it.

I have very little faith in Bethesda seeing beyond their own hubris. They themselves had skill checks in Fallout 3, and Obsidian upped the ante with FNV. Instead of matching it they removed it almost entirely.

I haven't yet finished a game, so I really don't know how the different faction endings compare. But from what I see in the Spoilers section, I gather that there is nothing even remotely related to "...And They Lived Happily Ever After." If I understand correctly, to successfully complete any faction quest line, you MUST screw over EVERYBODY else... and usually there is at least one other faction that you kind of like.

Spoiler
The closest thing to a Neutral faction is the Minutemen. But sticking with the Minutemen gets downright tedious fairly quickly.

Because there doesn't seem to be any satisfying conclusion -- Good Guys triumphant, Bad Guys vanquished, Happier Days on the horizon -- conclusion is more like finishing running a marathon: "God, I'm glad that's over!" That's not exactly the kind of conclusion that keeps people coming back for more.

Unless the GECK and mods seriously alter the dynamics, I find it hard to believe that FO4 will keep players coming back for more 4-5 years from now like Skyrim does.

I don't know why some have to accuse those who criticize some elements of FO4 as 'haters'.

I enjoy FO4 a great deal, but there are things that I think shouldn't be there and other things that I think could be improved upon. I certainly don't expect everyone to agree with me and I don't tell them to go play something else, unless they want to.

Well, I still read them. From my perspective you are primaly, fundamentally, deeply wrong 99% of the time but for that remaining 1%, you are quite brilliant.

Skyrim barely had much notes and most of them were barebones, Fallout 4 had terminals, notes and holotapes strewn all over the place. You really have to be blind not to notice any of them.

Which is an entirely different game than the third one
