Will F4 be as popular as Skyrim 4 years from now? Do you think you will be playing it then? I vote no. Voiced PC kills it for me, although the game is fun in short bursts.

If you don't like the voiced PC just mod it out... though why you wouldn't is beyond me...
the only reason Skyrim stayed for so long were DLC's and mods?!
Fallout 4 will get the same... you will be easily able to mod out anything that bothers you, including the voiced actor
I don't see why it shouldn't stand the test of time... it will only get better from now on
it obviously doesn't have as big of a fanbase as Skyrim, being a post-apocalyptic game, but it still seems to already challenge the amount of Skyrim mods, without actually having any mod tools so far
People keep saying that, but nobody I've met in real life would rather play a dusty nerd game about dragons than something with shooting and power armour in it.
Skyrim doesn't really stand the test of time alone. With mods it does. I'm sure once Fallout 4 gets the modding under way properly, it will have the same longevity as Skyrim.
As long as the mod community is on board, yes. I am hoping for an Alternate Start Roleplayers type mod, that frees me from the background story and the voiced protagonist.
The Sales count too: (?)
- 20 Millions Skyrim?
- 12 Millions Fallout 4?
I mean bigger Community means higher Amount of Mods.
Hard to say since it has only been out for two months and we haven't gotten any of the official modding tools.
Don't know for now, because we really do not know. So far it has sold really well, even on PC, almost more than the Xbox One version. Question is - Will it sell alot over time like Skyrim? or not. We need to see the DLC's and what modders can get out of the game, so far it looks good though. Nexus has over 200 pages with mods already and theCreation Kit is not released yet.
but we see how popular the fantasy franchise actually is ^^
Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Elder Scrolls, Witcher
a big chunk of todays popular media is about fantasy
post-apocalyptic stuff like Walking Dead or Fallout, Stalker, Metro doesn't seem to stand a chance against that :/
I feel like we're always just a niche
Some people still prefer not having a voice. Myself, I can take or leave the voiced protagonist. But TBPH, if I had the choice for Beth's next game, I'd go voiceless. I may still mod the player's voice out of the game, but for the moment it doesn't bother me enough to try it.
Way too early to tell, the quality of the mods and DLCs will definitely play a big role in it's longevity.
Of course, this is a Bethesda game, mods and DLC to come
No.
Without the Fallout name attached it would already have been forgotton by now. It's just not that good of a game.
The railroading is pervasive, there aren't any realy options aside from joining the institute or going against it. There isn't any real character building, aside from charisma no stats have an effect on dialogue or quest choices. Nothing you do matters.
It's a nice FPS, it's not a good RPG and it's not a good Fallout game.
Don't like it? Dont play it... no one is forcing you to...
I'm not playing it.
I have finished one playthrough and I have no desire at all to play another. I had to force myself to even finish the one, I got so bored with it. I'm not going to buy any DLC's for it.
What you however meant to say was "shut up" and I'm not going to that.
I am going to keep voicing my critique of the game in the hope that the developers may read it and take it to heart. There is a reason why this game is doing terrible on the user score front. There is a reason why the overwhelming opinion outside of this board is that it's a dissapointment for a Bethesda open world game. I've played Bethesda games for 20 years now and I know they can do better. I hope they will do better next time, because previous Bethesda games were among my favorites of all time. I want more of those and less of the railroading and shallowness of the past two games. And for them to do better they need to know where they went wrong.
Blind praise is useless as feedback. It doesn't help improve anything. I am here to provide a counterbalance to it.
Don't like it? Don't read my posts. No one is forcing you.
Its his Opinion, no need to force him to whatever you want him to force. Stop this needless Fanboiism.
With the amount of times you post these same comments in every thread where someone dares to criticize a single aspect of the game or shares a differing opinion, you might as well just put it in your signature and save yourself the trouble from posting.
I honestly don't know. I've played (and will play) the hell out of it, but I'm not sure I'll go back to it. We'll see. I'm sure I'll go back to Skyrim or Witcher 3 though. Maybe it's just because I prefer those types of game to shooters.
I'll tell you in two years...
FO4 is a solid game (for the most part), but lacks Skyrim's replayability.
To be fair the user scores mean squat. I remember on the day of release, there were hundreds if not thousands of reviews with a score of 1. There were threads about it on Reddit and elsewhere. I mean, it obviously came from people who either hadn't played the game or for some reason wanted to lower Bethesda's score intentionally. I think I know the reason for that when it comes to the Fallout series but I won't extrapolate.
It's not my favorite game by any means, but 1 out of 10? Sure... These games are marketed and sold to advlts, yet a lot of "children" seem to play them.
I suspect that it won't.
Skyrim had an 'epic' feel to it, and mods opened up such a broad path that the main questline wasn't necessary. FO4 lacks that epic feel, and I suspect that the significant differences between the two games mechanics wise will hurt the potential role playability of FO4, even with extensive mods.
For instance, there's little to hunt, and no fishing, at all in Fo4; Crafting is simply modding with cooking and chem making - in Skyrim you made weapons and armour; Because of map size, you could disappear out into the wilderness in Skyrim, and go camping, or use survival mods to shelter from weather etc, while in FO4 you get to the stage where a short walk takes you from settlement to settlement, or safe point to safe point.
I also think that the lack of Workshop support and mod tools at this point in time is hurting the player numbers...the forums aren't anywhere near as active as they were around the same time as after the Skyrim release.
