Will Fallout 4 the new 'burned game?'

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:25 am

What do you think?

Possible qualifiers:

  • Simple dialogue
  • No skills (?)
  • Unkillable NPCs
  • Jet Packs
  • Shoot em up combat mechanics

Personally, I only see this game getting worse and worse as more details arrive. Its very possible it could turn out to actually be worse than that other game nobody likes to talk about.

Edit: Will Fallout 4 be the new burned game. sorry...

How many details they offered on quest system, dialogue, stats, followers, choices and consequencs? I think they went for the gimmicks first to make a good imperession to the 'general' public, and then they'll start pouring relevant rpg design info too. I mean, the time is so short between announcement and release this time that there must be a denser info release plan for sure, and I think they have shown most of the gimmicks already, I mean how many cool things could they still hide?.

I highly doubt that it would be as bad as ET The Extra Terrestrial: The Videogame.

For some people yes. No game can please all of the people all the time.

I project FO4 will definetly be more successful than FO3 and will probably do better than skyrim. I suspect it will do well with awards both industry and gamer choice awards. So for MOST people it will be a success, for SOME people it wont. I suspect the people who don't like the game will try till they are blue in the face to explain how everyone who likes the game is wrong for liking it. Just like they did for morrowind, oblivion, FO3 and Skyrim. Seems a portion of the 'old' fans are always trying to explain to the 'new' fans that they are wrong for liking the current game.

I don't think we got any details on quests. There were however some shots that seem to suggest that skills will be either simplified or changed entirely. Todd Howard has already said in an interview that the companions will be unkillable because people reload when they die. So that doesn't make me optimistic when it comes to choice and consequences either.

The only unkillable NPCs at the moment are companions.... and this was even in 'all loved' New Vegas.

And the dialogues are not simple... JUst because of the new dialogue menu don't make dialogues more simple.

It can't be worse than what Interplay did to Fallout. Nor worse than what Obsidian did to Dungeon Siege.

Can you kill your family in the beginning of the game? Can you shove a knife in that salesman's face and make mr handy cut his head off with his rotary blade? No? ESSENTIAL.

Edit: JUST KIDDING, SHEEEEEEESH

Look at my sig. Its fricken simple.

Sure it's from Bethesda no matter what they do it will get the hate from this so called "fans". But NMA wil have a hard time to give up their most hated one: Fallout 3 (which is there even more hated as the real burned game).

Haters gonna hate

But who cares. :fallout:

Not much to believe, simply reading is enough and yes I watch and read long enough. I don't give any judgement about FO4 until I played it. In contrary to many here and over there.

I suppose you'll have a wonderful view of the bombs from your jail cell. Then game over. Brilliant story-telling, 10/10 RP.

Maybe we've watched and read long enough too... That's where the preconceived notions are coming from, not some irrational hate for a company.

Yeah always funny when you are in a discussion about FO3 and you realize that the guy who talks nonsense didn't even play that part of the game he critices and believes for example nonsense from the stragedy guide which isn't even in the game (only one of so many examples).

Or you tell that guy that is in a rant about Zeta (because that as fun meant DLC suddenly mutates to a lore bible  ) that FO2 had real ghosts.

Which simply gets ignored because never touch one of the holy elements of worship.

The Fallout series has many great games. I like alll of them (even the burned one because you need a black sheep in the family  ) and it doesn't look so bad for FO4. Simple dialoge... btw. the options look simple in the demo. The spoken words aren't as far as we can tell. But we have to see.

We don't know if you can kill Mr Handy after the prologue.

But what would it give you to kill your wife or the Vault Tec guy in the prologue? There is no reason to kill people in the prologue...

He said nothing of the sort.

All he said is that Dogmeat couldn't die, and gave no reason for it.

This represents the entirety of people that don't like Fallout 3?

Yeah I know I was just being an ass.

Personally I'm excited and have high hopes for the game. No need to convince me to dislike it for you to not buy it. Shall I tell you about my tastes in food and music so you can convince me that your taste is much better and I should change?

Hmm you're right he did only mention the dog. But he did give a reason. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/17/e3-2015-fallout-4-director-discusses-companion-functionality-immortality

Ahh well, this is after I went to sleep then. I stand corrected

But then, companions in Nv were immortal unless on hardcoe mode so...... is New Vegas the new burned game? Hell, it had even more FPS-like mechanics then Fo3 did.

Sorry no interest to write a whole novell here. But look at the speculation threads and head over to NMA to feel the hate.

and thanks for the example. :)

The original Fallout fans have essentially written off every Bethesda Fallout as "Burned Games", it's time to start considering this situation in the same light as what happened with Atari, Nintendo and Mario. Which means it's on like Donkey Kong.

Lol, I'm as pessimistic about this game as anyone but saying it will trump PoS in its [censored]tiness is just exaggaration. From what we've seen it's going to be Fallout 3 with voiced protagonist and WL2 synths and evil Lyons BoS. Even the parent - son thing is reused from F3. It's barely gonna be any different. That's disappointing, but if F3 wasn't a burned game then neither will this be one.

More than likely because he will be scripted to die at some point in the MQ - possibly a reference to how the canon Vault Dweller's Dogmeat died at the Military Base.

Also, I'm gonna be a casual peasant here and say companions being essential is the right thing to do. Companions being able to die is what always put me off from NV hardcoe mode. I wanted to do their quests, but they were almost always absolutely useless in a fight.
