Will fallout 4 wait for new consoles?

Post » Wed Sep 12, 2012 11:27 pm

So with the release of Skyrim Bethesda stated that they usually wait for a new console before releasing a game will they do that with the new fallout or will they use the creation engine that they already have. As much as I'd like to see fallout 4 in 2012 i realize that Bethesda just doesn't have the time to make a game of the scale they're used to. By 2013 it seems that we will be gearing up for new consoles especially as it seems that Skyrim was the pinicle of what the consoles today can handle. Which makes me wonder if the new fallout will co-release with a new gen of consoles

I would say so....they wanted to put Skyrim on the new console...but got sick of waiting for it. It makes sense they will work for Fallout 4 to be on the next gen of consoles.

I came across info in a xbox mag recently that hinted Fallout 4 was (disappointingly) two years away and more than likely for the next gen. console :((((((

Well you see there is no info on Fallout 4, and I read something that said Microsoft claims that a new system won't even be heard about so 2015. So personally I doubt it.

Its was an Insider info rumour section of the mag. I heard the new system will be revealed 2012 and out for the end of 2013.

Well I'll take Microsoft's words over a rumour, for now anyways.

I certainly hope so. Every time they add a new feature they rip half of the guts out of their games to make them fit. Hopefully a new console means more data for use in the game. 6 gb is not a whole lot of space considering what these games are capable of delivering. Imagine how more immersive Skyrim could have been if they didn't have to make the thing fit on one disc.

The release and creation of the game, imo, shouldn't be dependant on "the next next gen" and when ever it starts to be available. What tech we (or "you" since we're talking about consoles) have now is quite capable still of handling complex enough tasks and good enough graphics if used wisely.

I hope not - its bad enough MW3 was built for them and keeps crashing during SpecOps. I can wait to see what Fallout will be like on my trusted Xbox :o

Honestly, I hope not. As much as I would love to see a bethesda fallout game played to its maximum, with the stuff we love but graphics and what not well surpassing that of its current standards, I also WOULD NOT want to wait for the Fallout:4 to be released in Q4 of 2014 or in 2015 as rumors show the "Xbox 720" currently at. I can see perhaps a Fallout:5/6 as a next generation release however.

Xbox and PS3 have both stated that they're consoles are only halfway through their lifespans (which svcks because games are becoming to big for the five, almost six, year old consoles) so I doubt it.

I think they will get F4 and maybe one more Elder Scrolls game in before the new consoles are released.

They should just take their amazing profits from Skyrim and just make Fallout 4 for the PC so we can get the most out of it.

i just wish they would go for the pc as main-platform and then port to console with a version that needs less power. or port to new consoles after they experimented with it first.

I don't like the idea of having to buy a new computer or laptop to play a game (when I already have an older one that functions fine). I prefer to sit on my comfy sofa with my legs under me while I gaze at my big-*** t.v. And besides, most gamers are console-players. That would be a slap to the face.

Yeah I'm gonna go with this. I heard that infamous 2 only uses half of the PS3's capabilities so It'll be a while.

I don't care if it's gonna be for new or old consoles but I just hope that it won't use this stupid creation engine which is just a little bit upgraded gamebryo engine, physics are the same, animations are the same, only they've made it so light gives [censored] shadows (in some places)

and please bethesda you can simplify your elder scrolls but don't you ever simplify fallout! I still play elder scrolls, enjoy them but I don't care about them as much as about fallouts.

And another thing on the new Xbox. Supposedly Halo 4 will start on the 360 (obviously). And halo 5 will be on the new one. So if the new halos release like the old ones there would be a 3 year gap between them. That would mean the "Xbox 720" will come out from 2013-2015.

But I still think fallout 4 will be one of the last big releases on consoles.

My gut feeling going on the past is that Beth will release Elder Scrolls DLC all 2012 long culminating in the release of TESV: GOTY edition in time for next christmas. That will be their main focus. We may or may not get preliminary details about FO4 next year but the big reveal will come the year after during convention season (E3 2013, etc) for a Fall, 2013 release date with a six months marketing push.

Most of the tech side of things was wrapped up during development of TESV:S (and also remember they already have a ton of assets that can be reused) so just over two years from when TESV went gold is enough time to get FO4 out the gate before the end of this console cycle for a developer as big and experienced as Bethesda.

In my opinion the current gen will last at least til up to the end of 2013 because there are still several major releases that won't ship before the end of 2012, e.g. Rockstar Games' Agent, etc. Also this doesn't rule out the possibility that FO4 could be released on for example PS3, X360 and PS4, etc in the same release window, perhaps with a PS4, etc port coming a bit later. There's no way Beth would just ignore the existing console install base of 100+ million and release FO4 only on brand new consoles and high end PCs because It would take them years to get their money back on FO4 if at all because FO4 would be dirt cheap any way by then so they would still probably make losses on it. The only way it would be exclusive to next gen consoles and high end pc's would be if M$ offered them a bundle/exclusivity.

All things aside the next Xbox will be out by the end of 2013 because M$ are practically running on fumes at this point already and it will have been 7 years by then; whether or not Microsoft choose to announce it at E3 2012 or E3 2013 is largely irrelevant imo.

I came here (signed-up) just to pass my thoughts about what should or what should not be FO4 and when it might see the day light.
I think that beth stud did a minor fail wile they released FO3 in so short developing time (~ 1 year). FO3 was worst part of whole saga. But what they did right is that they hired ex "Black Isle" developers to aid in FO4 - game went splendidly (imo). It took longer to develop, but it finally brought back the key factor of the game - the sense that you actually play Fallout, not the TES4 in different outfit:)
If they do release FO4 before upcoming next gen consoles, they surely screw the spirit of Fallout by making it just another build-to-sell product and the saga may tend loose it's anticipation.
So again, I hope that we would see FO4 in not so near future as fairly completed chapter of wasteland:)

P.S. Does I am the only around dreaming to see wasteland in Europe? Paris or Moscow ect?

I prefer to sit on my comfy sofa with my legs under me while I gaze at my big-*** t.v. And besides, most gamers are console-players. That would be a slap to the face.

Yeah I know but sometimes I feel that Fallout deserves it with all the [censored] it has gone through in the past few years. I mean Bethesda made a killing off Skyrim and most console users don't appreciate Fallout for what it is, all they do is achievement hunt and complain about it. I for one am sick and tired of PS3 complaining that the crashing is Fallout's fault when really Sony is being lazy and trying to get the most money out of their old machine. *Shrugs* And Mods are a whole new level of whining. If you want mods so bad, buy a PC. I feel that it is incredibly hard to explain to a console player WHY mods can not be put on the console. Most gamers are kids and their understanding of computer code and all that is zero or minus.

Plus they hold back the graphics and performance that Fallout is capable of having. I also for one don't want my Fallout game... *COUGH* New Vegas COUGH COUGH* held back because the company who bought it and saved it doesn't want to share their new engine with Fallout because they are saving it to WOW people with its graphics.

Basically I don't want to suffer and watch my favorite series crumble and die or not reach its full potential. This would be a different story and I wouldn't mind if console players just took the time of day to learn about Fallout and realize that; "Hey, we can't do it during the Great War or those are mutants not aliens. You want to play as a lizard? Too bad." It kills to me to say the least.

If you want to buy a game series, at least take the time of day to improve it and release it. What Bethesda should do is hire people who really like Fallout and enjoy it, know all about its lore and timeline and make a good game... Fallout 4. Don't swap series every two years, that is how something gets [censored] up. Going from TES4 to Fallout 3 then back to TES5 is what caused Fallout 3 to be a middle finger to the Fallout series.

What all this means is I want to see Fallout 4 to be the greatest of the series, I want old gamers to say, "Wow, that is really good, might be better than the originals." Not, "This was a huge [censored] up and why would the do this to us?"

I for one REALLY do not want to wait four more years for Sony and Microsoft to make a new console series... and then wait an extra two for Bethesda to port the game onto the PC...

Highly unlikely. We get a new generation of consoles every 5-6 years, 7-8 at the absolute maximum. That puts us at a new console by 2013, early 2014.
