Will it feel good?

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 10:54 am

This is something I'm really worried about, and perhaps others are as well.

I'm quiet worried about the overall feel of the character. Take Mw2 as an example. Yes, yes, yes whatever it's a crap game in your opinion, but think about the movement of the camera.
It's smooth, move the stick/mouse around and it's a really smooth, pleasant experience, no delay at all. Then think of Resistance 1/2. It's thick, stutters and just doesn't feel smooth at all.
Crank it to full sensitivity, feels and looks terrible. I just hope...I don't know if you guys agree...but I just hope they think through the general feel of the camera. Hopefully it's smooth like Modern Warfare,
or perhaps even better.

Cheers,

JajaGun

i see what you mean, and i agree with you. But i really do trust the devs with their game, that they'll do whatever they can to make their game the best it can be. I don't think they'd ruin their game on purpose.

I'm not actually a first person shooter... person, so I haven't tried either of the games you mention, but given the natureof Brink (aka fast paced shooter) I would assume the devs know the importance of nice camerca movement in this kind of game

In spite having now gone down a terrible path with MW, the COD games have a legacy of always been very, very smooth. The gun handling and movement in that game is superb, everything else; not to so much. I totally get where you're coming from, BFBC2 feels extremely heavy, MAG feels boxy, and Halo... eurgh. I'm not saying that in Brink it should be like MW, but rather COD in terms of smooth, reliable movement. Just because MW is [censored], it doesn't mean that every other CoD game prior to that is as well. ;)

Well most of the reviews have mentioned how smooth the SMART system is. I also having heard too many complains about the gameplay. I expect it will be good.

To be frank, I do actually hope it doesn't feel smooth at first, especially if you are just holding down the SMART button. I hope that the true sense of smoothness comes to those that start to master the manual aspects of SMART.

Well I would rather it faster and more efficient. The fact is it will likely be smoother as well since if you wall hop to a ledge is much smoother than having to climb up it.

Just because someone is bad at video games doesn't mean that they have to have a choppy camera experience, this is a very selfish thing to say, I for one think that the very nature of Brinks movement promotes smoothness, parkour is partly about the continuity of movement, brink is about continuous movement and shooting the living hell out of people while doing it. :gun:

Whether you like the game or not, the shooting mechanics in it are really solid.

I wasn't saying that the actual GAMEPLAY of COD is good. All I was stating is that the camera angles, smoothness etc, what Memeotis said.

I'm worried about it as well- that's why I'm not preordering until I hear more about the gameplay from IGN/people who are at PAX/whoever- but going off of what we've head and seen so far it doesn't look like we have a whole lot to worry about. I certainly know what you mean about the Call of Duty games vs. Halo and Bad Company (all of which I enjoy to varying degrees) and though I'll probably be playing PC (which in my experience has more streamlined controls as compared to my 360) it's definitely a valid concern.

So far the only two games with amazing feel that I have played recently is Modern Warfare 2 and Killzone 2

That's what she said! (At the title of the thread)

OT: Hopefully yes, I've read a couple of hands-on and so far no one's complained about the weight of the controls.

Yeah weighted mouse controls are just annoying and make little sense. They're OK on consoles if done well but they should stay away from PCs.
