Will we finally get a robotsynth relationship this time?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 12:00 am

So I know I may be in the minority here but will we be able to romance synths in fallout 4? Battlestar Galactica did it with cylons and while not everyone is into machines like I am; I feel like by omitting relationships with robots and synths in other Bethesda games they are being mechanofiliaobic.

In the intro we have to be married to a human? This pretty much destroys my roleplaying unless they actually turn out to be synths.

Will we have romanceable companions that are mechanical like synths? Say I want to "have a go" at Codsworth... Is this doable in fallout 4?

I feel like Bethesda needs to lay off the normal human relationships and cater to my specific needs and allow total player freedom!

What say you? This hasn't been discussed yet.

*someone posted about LGBT relationships earlier but my topic is new so please understand I just want to know what people think about this*

Well, we had a protectron one in Fallout NV.

Really, if Bethesda makes the game an homage to Bladerunner and doesn't have at least one romance that turns out to be a synth, that's probably a wasted story opportunity.

I do hope there is a compelling, somewhat androgynous (perhaps intersixual?) synth with a possible romance. Merely for the RP.

...merely for RP.

And you'll only be able to consummate if you are under the effects of an inhibition-destroying virus.

...Will anyone get it?

I don't think Codsworth is 'fully functional'...

I could honestly see a full or single-companion port of this. It's too good. The whole android angle is really playing out to be a big part of humanity's future; hopefully we can take advantage (no pun intended, really) of the theme and get it. It just has to be compelling story, not Fanfiction.net-esque crap to make pretty people do it without plot. :goodjob:

I actually would like to befriend/romance a drug crazed raider chick. Get her off the stuff, clean her up, give her something to live for, etc.

A snyth would be interesting also, but I'd have to design a role-play where my PC is a complete idiot and thinks machine can feel love and crap.

What was the raider-companion mod for FO3? Angela? I believe so. I RP'd her much the same way. +5 points LeBurns House. Would support.

Does bring up a good point.

Will there be synth/human relationships among those in the Railroad?

As for Bethesda allowing a PC/Synth romantic relationship. If it were disallowed on the grounds of "Ya, that's gross- we said human NPCs are romancable.", can they/should they really make a story involving synths around the philosophical question, "What makes us human?" I mean, that question is kind of moot if Bethesda were to conclude it's "an abomination".

About 25% too many options. This is FO4 we're talking about, not some RPG.

Despite your obvious attempt to belittle LGBT people, this is actually a fairly interesting question. Harkness thought he was human, it's reasonable to expect him to partake in certain human activities. Or did no one ever come on to the most eligible bachelor in Rivet City? One faction believes synths are people - so should relationships with synths be socially acceptable? Do synths feel emotion? How would you feel if you found out your S.O. has actually been a synth this whole time? Actually, thinking about it in this context has made me think that my first character might consider joining a full-on synth rights faction.

I didn't make the thread to "belittle" anyone. I maybe did jab at all the people whining about Bethesda not being inclusive ...sure. Of course I am not into machines in real life but I did mean the question about whether people would like to see synthetics romanced. It was very prevalent in battlestar Galactica and would make sense if synths had actual AI or potential emotion.

I don't want to hump Mr. Handy :) but if there is a cool android chick I am down to explore the potential in the game

Depending on how hateful the BoS are and what can be reconciled, I'm siding with them /and/ the Railroad. If the Institute is producing synths for nefarious purposes and/or slavery and they all have self-determination like Harkness, they burn.

If there is a problem with some synths promoting synth dominance (as we've seen with all factions; ghouls, Mutants, BoS, etc), they die and the synths like Harkness get my help. If they can't distinguish/be shown the difference between dominance and coexisting, they burn. If the Railroad is housing synth dominants out of some quasi-religious belief they are *get read* "next step," they burn.

-

On topic: I really hope there is an androgynous synth companion... I'd be happy with a gender'ed synth companion and romance, of course.

edit: I recognize an androgynous or intersixual character would be incredibly hard to do for two reasons: game engine and 1950's attitudes.

edit edit: I saw no attempt at belittling anyone except perhaps Bethesda.

I'd actually like to RP the opposite and get some chick from Diamond City hooked on drugs and dependant on me. "Kill that raider and I'll give you a hit"

Okay, didn't mean to come across too harsh - I actually agree that it's silly to criticize Bethesda for not being inclusive enough. I like that we can form relationships with anyone, and I don't have any problem with the story starting off in a "traditional" marriage. And I think forming relationships with "anyone" should include synths. I've never seen Battlestar Galactica but I can see what you're getting at and it might add some nice storytelling elements. And now I'm wondering about ghouls too... after all, they are even more human than synths. Hmm...
