Will we have that sense of epicness?

Post » Sat Jan 04, 2014 1:49 pm

I have to use skyrim as my example here when your playing skyrim you feel part of the story and like your making a difference, now is ESO as with most mmos we will have many people together in shards zones whatever correct?

My concern is they will have so many of us in a area (no idea how many per shard at the moment) that it really diminishes that feeling of awe? Seems like would be difficult to feel like you and your group are making a difference when you have hundreds or even thousands of other players crammed into the zones?

I love the fact this is a mmo nothing I want more then to share this with friends and take the journey with them...but am curious and concerned how they will handle all the folks playing and still maintain some decent immersion?

Well honestly I found morrowind to be better and far more epic then skyrim, however many people have not played morrowind so used skyim instead!

Also there was no bubble to burst I am under no illusion this will feel exactly like the single player game, all I am hoping is that we will get something of that experiance in their mmo version of the game.

I am sorry to say, but MMOs are not known for Epicness.

Maybe, in PvP after winning a 200 v 200 battle... or it could just feel like a zergfest... i dont know, we will have to wait and see.

Turning off friendly nameplates helps a lot. also waiting 1-2 weeks after launch before playing should calm the initial rush.

So your implying the starter areas will have lot of players ...thats a shame, seems they could have made could use of smaller shards or more instancing perhaps? At this point however so close to release guessing everything is in place and pretty much done with the exception of optimization and tweaking here and there.

All beginning areas will ALWAYS be packed with people at the beginning of any new game.

I realize this lol not my first mmo, all I was hoping was they might have smaller populations ie more shards for the stater areas to spread the players out a bit more. Anyone have a guess as to how many players can be in the starting areas at once?

There hasn't been much word on how many people can fit in each shard.

Opinions ahoy!

Just about every game I have played since Skyrim has been more 'epic'. Skyrim was a huge let down in that department. Meh, opinions though.

Dark Souls.
Dragons Dogma.
Mass Effect 3.
Kingdoms of Amalur.
Deus Ex Human Revolution.
The Witcher 2.
Morrowind. (Just beat it actually)
Dishonored.

All of them made their plotlines epic in some way. Skyrim was just meh. Big build up, anti-climactic and highly predictable plot. In terms of gameplay, they also have it beat imo, except Morrowind, but the sheer options in Morrowind are worth mentioning. The only epic thing for Skyrim was the amount of content imo. Which quickly got boring, and I am a lore freak for TES. I still cannot figure that one out.

Either way, I would say ESO has Skyrim beat in most areas, from what I have seen.
