Will installing New Vegas on my hard drive help cut down on

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 6:29 am

(Xbox 360 version)

I basically want to know whether or not installing the game to my hard drive will make the loading screens go by faster. I love this game but the loading tims get unbearable.

If you really want to reduce the load times you need an SSD.

Load times are 1-2 seconds with SSD.

Yes it will, a lot. Sometimes when you want to go inside a building or something, there won't even be a load screen/time, you will enter the building instantly. I actually find it impossible to play Fallout or Oblivion without installing them.

Nope. Putting critical information in that field right under the thread title is ill-advised. If you do so, stick it in the post too.

People tend to miss that info :)

Pros: Faster loading times, smoother gameplay, less recurrent bugs and glitches, quieter Xbox while playing

Cons: Installing a game like New Vegas eats up about 5-7GB of storage space.

Really? I always look at the full title and all of the posts (up to 12) before posting on a thread. I guess I'll add it to the original post. I'm still looking for more opinions.

To install it to your HD when its in your Xbox go to the dashboard and under the "My Xbox" tab, scroll over the Fallout: New Vegas picture at the beginning of the slides under the My Xbox tab. Press Y, then Install to HD.

Yes but you have to have the disk when you go to play the game yourself.

Stupid question but by downloading it to my HD, I still will get updates/patches? I don't need to be 'running' the disk to get those do I?

You still have to use the disc when playing a game from your hard drive. Installing a game usually just makes it run a lot smoother and should cut down on loading times. That's why I asked specifically whether or not it helped with New Vegas, which has significantly longer loading times than Fallout 3 uninstalled.
