Will Lights be the end of spawn camping?

Wraith I'm in hot pursuit of a troll. i need a couple turrets to cut off his escape root...I'll aim for a headshot while i'm chasing him.

I am an operative not an engineer.

Well there are no tanks :D Problem solved.

Well we have heavies and that is the next best thing to a tank.

In BC2 the best squad tactic with a "tank" is to have the tank in the very middle of the buildings wreaking havoc and have two guys with the lightweight perk flanking around the buildings and killing off everyone that's distracted by or trying to attack the tank. It's so easy to massacre everyone with this method.

When I played the demo my team trapped the other team at first objective. They svcked so much balls I wondered why they were even there playing it! I never saw someone spawn but me n my turret destroyed them as they came round corner.

One of you honestly thought I was trolling? Of course I'm not trolling. Some of you commented on not understanding the point of killing people in their spawn until they all quit. If you do this, then a new group of players gets to join in. Eventually one that is good enough to have fun with will join. I only ever spawnkill because I was good enough to kill them and kill them and kill them again....fairly with my my own skills until they just kneel down and start sending fanmail or act like a PMSing [censored] and send hatemail. It seems like most of you have some problem or another about being spawnkilled which I don't understand for the most part. I can understand how some think it's unclassy, but when noobs are going to sit in the back of their base recon waiting to get spawnkilled I might as well do it instead of taking the crates to have a 60 minute game over one set of crates because they all want to snipe. If players were truly skilled equally they never would get spawnkilled. Also, the better player will not be spawnkilled for long at all.

TL;DR Version: Spawnkilling Is A Great Idea

While spawnkilling might be one of the most efficient strategies, it's really annoying to get spawnkilled. If you get spawnkilled in competitive gaming, fine, then your team is not as good as the enemy and you should lose. But in public gaming which is mostly intented for fun it's really really bad. For many players it breaks the game. While I personally rather join the team that gets spawnkilled, because I like to break free.

You seem to get a certain join from people hating you (Which I can partially understand, because hating people on the internet is dumb. However, I do not approve of your point of view) but games are made to have fun. This counts for all people in the game, not just one (A.k.a the spawnkiller)

Not everyone is skilled. Plus killing noobs is boring, some people prefer a challenge.

Really everyone I know who spawnkills prefers a challenge. Killing noobs is okay. Honestly they can be entertaining because of how bad they are. Kind of like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ4fA_nwnZ0. There are lots of really tiny things that seem like common sense to experienced players that the noobs won't understand so it's funny. Hatemail is always refreshing, but I think most people do prefer genuine fanmail. Don't complain about getting spawnkilled please people. It's almost always because you don't play right that is happens.

So when in a pub game, where teams are not pre-determined, if I get a team full of less-skilled players and the other team has more-skilled players, it's my fault because I'm not "playing right?" Good luck trying to get me (and others) to believe that.

If you prefer spawnkilling so much, and no on else here approves, then why are you still here trying to further your point? We don't like it, end of story. If you have a problem with that, then leave. You're not going to change how people think of it.

I think command posts are mobile spawn points, and can be taken over at any time, so no.

Well I wouldn't call CP's mobile and I don't think you can spawn at them.

As much as I dislike his opinion on this subject, I really cant stand it when people say things that boil down to "The forum doesn't agree with you, get the hell out".

Afaik you can/will spawn at them, once they're captured. Hence why it makes very much sense to capture one.

I would make an exception this time, however. :teehee:

Sorry about that. I sensed his tone as one of contempt and disapproval, thus my response.

Personally I like the challenge of trying to get past some spawn killers. But they have to be good otherwise they epic fail and it's just funny to watch them.
Usually the only time I will spawn kill is if I have been spawn killed first or if they attempted it. Especially if it was the whole team.

Command posts are key locations, which cannot move.
They don't only spawn you somewhere else, you will have more total spawns now, to make certain pathways easier to access. They are extremely usefull, because they can also make you switch classes or they can be upgraded to have bonus effects on the team. However, since you only have invulnerability when you spawn and no turrets to defend you, you'll take a certain risk, because these points will be key secondary or primary objectives. It's a risk you take, that might pay off very well. Any W:ET veteran knows how much influence the capture of certain command posts had. (Battery/Rader anyone?)

You cannot spawn on CP's. There is only 1 spawnbase for each team, that moves as the game progresses. The below dev posts give more insight into how spawning and CP's work.

They are talking about how things operate in the game, using the slideshpw as a reference. Here is the slides - http://www.slideshare.net/thrmoptc/tao-of-level-design-brink
