So will new DLC add...

Post » Fri Feb 19, 2016 12:36 am

I'm hoping and praying that the new DLC adds a lot more "RPG" to the game! I would love if our SPECIAL and Perks/skills could be used in the dialogue system...etc. Lets hope Bethesda fixed one of the biggest issues in the game! What do you guys think?

No need to worry about that, G.E.C.K will fix it once it's released.

Maybe they can emphasize that more in the DLC storylines, but if you're not satisfied with the RPG in the base game they aren't going to retroactively "fix" it.

yeah they wont magicaly fix the RPG, not at the level ppl here want. Plus Bethesda is showing how they want to handle their game. If u like it, like i do, ur are happy, if u dont like it, u better move to another game. I doubt Fo4 will ever get to the level some fans want.

Who cares? Bethy got rid of one of the more lamer features of the old RPG paradigm, where some arbitrary stat lets you press some button to pass a speech check or some [censored]* if your stat is high enough.

What I want to see in new Bethesda games is the old speech mini-games from Oblivion, that was frigging awesome.

Fallout 4 is much more skewed towards fighting than talking, so much that I dont think there's a healthy balance. New Vegas also had way more talking than fighting, once again not a healthy balance. I think Fallout 3 did it right for my tastes.

Im sure people will talk about some vague notion of RPG mechanics making them smarter than others, but really I hope that the balance between shoot/talk is more towards Fallout 3's level in Far Harbor. Fallout 3 also had some of my favourite sets of tiny societies in the ass end of the wastes that are way more eccentric and interesting than any other fictional universe can muster. I hope some of the people we meet there are like the Treeminders or The Republic of Dave, and that there's a lot of ways to interact with them and make a mark on their history.

They aren't going to change dialog that already exists in the game. It's entirely possible that the Far Harbor DLC will have a more RPG driven story line though.

Can't speak to the RPG levels, as it's so subjective to how each gamer actually mentally approaches the game. I will say that I'd like to see less procedure generated filler quests, and actually meet new characters with unique stories to work my way through. If it weren't for building settlements, I'd probably have shelved the game already... And this is the first BGS game I've played that's lacking in the replay department. The faction quests just aren't different enough...

no it will add features that already should have been in the game or the modding community would have done the first weel since release if they had the creation kit and probably better than bethesda is cooking up

Too many people focus & then complain about what is bad, what they don't like, what is lacking.

Fallout 4 this, Fallout 4 that.

To be fair, most people who enjoy a game tend to stay away from the game's forums. Literally every game forum I've ever been to is filled with people complaining.

I enjoy the game and have 400+ hours into it. I suspect that most of those who didn't like game , visited briefly to air their beefs, and then moved on. IMO FO4 is a very good game, but it does have a few glaring weaknesses. It might seem like there are many trolls, but many are critical because the game does matter to them.

It may happen in the DLC, but they won't change the core design of the game because some people dislike it. A choice was made and they have to live with it now, for better or worse. We'll see what happens in Far Harbor.

it won't. DLC is just some extra content to squeeze a little more money out of people. They don't devote the resources to it that would be needed for wholesale changes and testing. Most of the people who made the game are probably working on something else, or transitioning to it

Yep, the developer doesn't care, it is just to leech us. That is why we have gotten so many great expansions from Bethesda ever since Morrowind.

I have found myself at many points in the game yelling, "If I wanted to play CoD I would BUY CoD, dammit!!!!" I think the game has a little too much gunplay and large battles than I like, but overall I still enjoy the game. So I am hoping we get a little less large battle crap, and a little more diplomatic type problem solving.

I wouldn't say leaching. You will get more content. They just aren't going to drastically change anything. Any "lessons learned" kind of changes or redesigns of systems in the game will be implemented in the next TES or FO game
