No, I doubt it. Ghouls are hated everywhere, factions like BoS wouldn't even let you join, and Diamond City wouldn't even let you go it. Plus, unlike Skyrim, you can't turn back to human like werewolf and vampire.
Actually it is more likely that we learn the secrets of the Children of Atom where they can live in heavily irradiated places and look perfectly fine.

I feel like it's one of those things that you'd do if you were drinking booze while having a Fallout session. Next day you wake up, turn on the game and....boom. You're a damn ghoul.
