Will NPCs carry modded weapons?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:45 pm

So the weapon modification system seems like its going to greatly expand the variety of weapons available( i.e. you can take a plasma weapon and make it a sniper rifle, an automatic weapon, or a shotgun) and I'm really looking forward to that. What I'm wondering though is will npcs carry weapons that have modifications like these, or will they only carry the base weapons (I expect that this will be the case)?

100% sure they carry modified.

There have been several screenshots released showing they do.

Yeah I've wondered this aswell, it would be a wee bit odd if the player character is the only one in the entire wasteland(including the institute)who can mod weapons. But yes, I fear npcs may be armed only with default weapons, I hope we're wrong though.

See my post 100% they DO carry modified weapons. The "Little League" video shows you looting a mahogany baseball bat. Which is a mod for the regular bat.

I think that if we do find weapons that are modded in containers and on enemies, they likely won't be "heavily modded" with every mod slot being used with a modification, but yes it would seem that npcs will enjoy the wonders of modded weapons too. :3

Yeah, I'm assuming that Beth wouldn't leave you out in the cold if you didn't want to spend points on crafting. I'm sure there will be plenty of modded weapons and unique weapons to find out in the wastes. Most likely it'll all be based on level just like Skyrim. You'll hit a certain level and all of sudden start coming across Daedric raider armor and Dwemer shotguns. :P

I believe they will. And considering we might have target seeking Fatman projectiles...that's a scary prospect.

Indeed. You might be carrying a sweet ass laser sniper rifle, but so too could your enemy. Adds a tad bit of tension when reaching certain high level areas.

In real life, bayonets effectively turned rifles into spears. I'm assuming the melee attack with a standard rifle will be a butt strike. Do you guys/gals think adding a bayonet will actually change the attack to a thrusting spear type attack, or perhaps simply add a damage bonus to the melee attack.

I would assume it'll be used exactly as intended, gutting the enemy with the blade. I just can't wait to try it!
