Will Official Plugins work on Windows 7 & 64bit computer

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 12:33 am

I just bought a new gaming computer. I moved from Windows XP and a 32bit system to Windows 7 (no choice) and a 64 bit system.

Oblivion installed fine and is running on the system. I suspect it is running in an a 32bit emulator or some such, but I'm not sure.

Every time I try to install the official plugins, the installation starts and then crashes. I've received several different error messages, each as meaningless and useless as the next.

Does anyone know if the official plugins can be installed onto a Windows 7, 64bit platform? If yes, how?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

If you still have access to a 32 bit PC, You can install the plugins into Oblivion, then move the esp and BSA files for the DLC to a new folder so they can be manually added to your 64 bit PC. The problem is with the Installer software used for the DLC and 64 bit Operating Systems. The pinned Threads at the beginning of this sub Forum may have a link to a third party program, and using the search function may also bring up a solution.

I remember people having success using http://legroom.net/software/uniextract to extract the exe's and then manually installing the files for the DLC.

+1 -- This method works -- THe downloaded DLCs have a security wrapper that is not compatible with 64 bit OSes so you need to extract the files from the files in order to be able to manually place them inthe folders -- Run the universal exractor on the Downloaded file -- then go to the Data1 folder it creates and run the extractor again - then go into the new Data folder that creates and you'll see the .esp and .bsa files you need to install to your Data folder - after placing into the install folder activate the .esp like any other mod and they will work fine.
