So...Will we be playing as Prophet or Alcatraz?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 4:25 pm

WARNING: Spoiler alert if you haven't played Crysis 2

Ok i've seen several posts saying "didn't you play C2, prophet is dead, he shot himself" yet the official crytek description of crysis 3 says we will be playing as Prophet. Yes i've heard the "prophet's mind is part of the suit but it's physically alcatraz, blah blah".
So i just got done playing C2 campaign again and correct me if i'm wrong but at the very end of the game doesn't Alcatraz die?? He jumped into the big spear then he goes to the "afterlife" and Prophet says, and i quote "Hey, Dead Man"
So Prophet dies at the beginning of C2, Alcatraz dies at the end of C2, they're both in the afterlife (whatever you want to call it)......Why can't it "physically" be prophet that comes back at the end and physically speaks "They call me Prophet".? Wouldn't it physically have to be Prophet's vocal cords to say that at the end? This has been bugging me lately but i have yet to here a good explanation of why its impossible to physically be Prophet in C3.

Nope. The voice is prophet's because Alcatraz's vocal cords are damaged, and the suit has a voice synthesizer. That is what you hear. Also no, that is Alcatraz being knocked out and unconscious when you see Prophet. And when he says ," Hey there, dead man." He means your body is dead(technically) because you can't live without the suit.

But if you say he's knocked out, then why would Prophet be talking to him in real time, and not like a flash back like all the other times. Now look at this quote from the Creative director of Crysis 3:
"Hojengaard went on to explain that Prophet’s transformation from hunted to hunter goes beyond simple mechanics. Prophet is also on the hunt to find out more about his dark and sordid past, and, most likely, the “good explanation to why he’s back” after having tried to kill himself in the previous installment."

Key word there being "TRIED" to kill himself. (meaning unsuccessful attempt)

He also mentioned that prophet would be back as an AI.

Okay, take out a pen and paper people, pay Attention!

The suit is alive, like its a Slimy living breathing alien, the game says it multiple times, "symbiotic" meaning between Alcatraz and the suit, its a mutual symbiosis, the suit needs a nervous system to operate, and the host needs... well in Alcatraz's case, to stay Alive, and in prophets, to be a badass.

In the C2, you get "flashbacks" but in fact are memories, by that i mean you are slowly downloading Prophet, until... you download enough that you in fact believe you are prophet!

No really, the memories are a clear advisemant that your merging consciousnesses with prophet, the suit has its own consciousnesses, as Alcatraz puts it, SECOND, the state of mind of the suit, As evidence that i bring, think this one over slowley... "Maximum Armor, Cloak Engaged, Nanovision Enabled" This is actually prophets voice, as proof, the last words you ever hear from the game before cutscene is, "This is it marine finish what i started"... Now why oh why would the suit be saying that? Thats right, because the suit is prophet, and prophet is the suit.

In short you are Alcaprophet with the exception of its not so much merging, but shared, it is in fact Alcatraz's Body, but with prophets mind, for crysis 3.

!!!SPOILER!!!! The suit nom noms on your delicious insides. to repair any damage done to the body oh say, getting shot? One of the main reasons why you cant speak is... as the game progresses, no lungs, no heart, no liver, no insides, no synapses, why else do you think when Hargreaves tricks you with an EMP, you stay Alive? An the lazers trying to remove the suit from, well... your cold dead body.

Ask away if you want to know moar.

If you played Crysis 2 from beginning to end then you know who you are in Crysis 3. Some say there are no stupid questions, but this thread's question is a little............I'll stop. I think you get it.

Prophets mind is in the nanosuit, his body died but his mind dit not, that was copied into the nanosuit. When alcatraz got in the suit their personalities start to merge. In the end of crysis 2 prophets mind has taken over but Alcatraz is still there to.

When you read crysis legion youll see that Alcatraz refers to himself as Prophet even though he is aware that he isnt Prophet. There is also a research report in the book that describes how cognitive processes seem to be increasingly ofloaded into the Suits Biochip, some cognitive processes are placed in alcatraz mind and some in the nanosuit. Furhtermore it states that they can no longer see the nanosuit and its wearer as seperate entities. And since the Suit seems to be taking over the cognitive processes and Prophet minds is in the suit AND there is about 20 years between crysis 2 and 3 i think its safe to say by that time Prophets mind will have taken over completely.

Really guys read the book it explains in so much more detail

I don't like the book because it doesn't follow the game exactly. It is full of good canon info though.

You have it backwards, the game doesn't follow the book exactly, the book is right, it even tells you what Alcatraz actually does when he jumps at the end of the game, game side, he blanks out, book side, its time to jam my giant fist in the ceph's spores a$s... literally.

No one reads books no more.

"I keep a forty of tequila in my kit-you know, strictly for medicinal purposes-and I crack it to take the edge off. Offer it around but nobody else wants any. They say it makes a bad mix with all the neurotropes. Pussies." — Alcatraz

"Why do you need the details? You're not making a **** documentary." — Alcatraz

"I force-feed it a couple of sticky grenades from the L-TAG, praying to the goddamn Spaghetti Monster I'm not punching through a motherboard." — Alcatraz

"Hargreave makes approving noises from the ass end of nowhere." — Alcatraz

"Let me repeat that, Roger, for the benefit of your **** bosses behind the mirror. The Pentagon. Decided. That the best way. To take out. Super-advanced. Aquatic. Aliens. Was to drown them." — Alcatraz

"I swear, Roger, the way this thing crashes I'd swear the OS was written by Microsoft." — Alcatraz

"I'm feeling like my mom just showed up on the LAN in front of all the cool kids and asked me if I remembered to clean my room." — Alcatraz

Alcatraz is still there. He just prefers Prophet now.

"Gay raqe in Hanging Flies!" - Gould

"There are these insects, hanging flies. And sometimes a male will raqe another male; just punch a hole right through the abdomen and ejaculate inside, its called traumatic insemination." - Gould

"But the really cool thing is, its actually a viable reproductive strategy! Because the invading sperm doesn't just float around once its in there, it seeks out the gonads of its victim! It infiltrates the testes so when the victimized fly goes out and inseminates a female, hes actually injecting someones else's sperm!" Gould

"The spire vented of course, That was the whole plan.It went off exactly when it was suppose to, but not before we'd raqe'd it hanging fly ass; and when all that jizz spread out across Manhattan, it was carrying our sperm not the ceph's." Alcatraz

THE most important quotes in the Crysis series and Crytek forgot to insert them into the game, seriously there quotes define what was the plan all along, not just, stick your fist in the spire and let it do magic."

I see your point, but for me the game comes first. Crysis is a game franchise and the games are where the stories are actually told. Now if Crysis started as a book I would be inclined to agree with you, but because it didn't I don't.

This post is for most of you as all of you have mentioned something wrong (whether you meant to or not).
Prophet killed himself physically. He is now a part of Alcatraz' mind. Alcatraz is knocked unconscious at the end of the game. Prophet says "hey, dead man" because if you remember during one of the flashbacks when he is talking to Hargreave he says the suits were turning his men into dead men walking. So yes, it kinda is because Alcatraz can't live without the suit, but more along the lines of Alcatraz should be dead as he has so many damages to his body, medical science would consider him dead.

Alcatraz uses the voice synthesizer at the end, which most likely stored Prophet's voice. Which leaves the question of,"Why did he call himself Prophet". Well, Alcatraz just takes on the name. He most likely got used to being called it, and as the creative developer mentioned during an interview (which can be found in my "Everything you need to know about Crysis 3" thread) he is trying to figure out what/who he really is because Alcatraz now contains another person's entire life experiences, memories, etc within himself (and ceph dna, but that's besides the point.

Dude, you are just repeating what has already been said in this thread. Your post was pretty useless IMO, hence I replied. Sorry if you can't take a little comical criticism.(it was a joke, if you watch South Park then you'll get it)

Nothing personal. I agree with what you said. It's just already been said.

It's all good buddy. We all love and are passionate about Crysis here so stuff like this happens occasionally.

Also, I messed up with the reference to the joke. It's not from South Park, sorry. It's from a comedy movie of which the title escapes me at the moment. I got the "Captain Obvious" from a movie and got it confused with Captain Hindsight from South Park. Oops.

EDIT: Oh yeah, it was from "Dude, Where's My Car?" Just remembered.
