Will Preorder Bonuses Reset For Launch?

Post » Wed Mar 26, 2014 6:38 pm

I'm not usually the type of person to use the forums (I apologize if this is not the right place to ask this question) but just checking, will preorder bonuses such as the scuttler vanity pet and treasure maps be sent to new characters on launch even if you already received them while beta testing? I certainly hope so!

Last weekend I stumbled upon the overflow test, and funny story, I accidentally signed in just in time to see the servers get shut down. Since I had just preordered recently, I also managed to receive the explorer's pack bonuses in the few seconds before everyone got logged out. I didn't have the chance to put them in my inventory or take them to the bank or anything like that, so I've been wondering if they'll be sent out again at official launch or if it was really "one-time only" and they are now lost forever.

Thanks in advance if you can help with this question!

Yes. You will get most of them on official launchday (4-4-14), but you can buy the horse from the imperial edition and use the rings of mara on early access day.

What you did in beta does not matter. Most people didn't even receive it on beta. So you will have all again.

No worries, you should be fine. It looks like a lot of them won't be implemented until April 4. but you'll get them.

ofcourse they will, why wouldnt they! they will be given to you at launch. That was simply a test of the sorts, and any chars im sure have been all wiped.

If people dont get their items they paid for at launch, you could expect to see a very angry ESO community.

You should have full access to explorer pack items during early access and, if you got a digital IE, to all perks. In case of you ordering a physical IE, said perks should unlock upon registering the retail key for the IE.

Someone said they are only giving out one copy of each perk (except the horse, and able to use imperial race, that sort of stuff)... still trying to figure out why they would go that route... anyone know? Of course, I cannot find a link to where they actually said these things, so maybe was just those few people were wrong? Dunno...

You'll get one item per account, shareable between all characters.

Yes, but do you have a link for that, and perhaps know the reason WHY they are doing it? I don't get the concept of giving out only 1 copy of a virtual item, especially when the customer just gave you ~133% of the price for the regular game up front before even really having any idea if the game is going to flop after 6 months... they gave extra money in good faith, how come they only get 1 copy of something that honestly is FREE to the company? Costs them nothing to allow those people to have hundreds of that item, doesn't destroy the game either, doesn't even hurt it... just trying to get a concept on why they made that decision lol

Even other games get it... they have no issues handing out the pre-order stuff to each and every character that is made on that account... I really cannot think of any that restrict to only ONE per account unless it is a REALLY nice item (but most shy away from that since items on that level of power also upset game balance and people who didn't even know the game existed until after launch are then heavily penalized, etc)... but a stupid pet? Why be restrictive of those?? Seems somewhat ridiculous. Any idea why they did it? or have a link to where they said it?

Dunno, maybe it's because there's an account wide pet management system incoming? Yeah, call me an optimist, but I've got no real clue on the limitation either. And it's somewhere in the FAQ.

Thanks for the reassurances, everyone! I was pretty sure that our beta characters would be thrown out for the official launch but since I didn't really get a good look at the information that came with the bonuses in-game, I don't know anything for certain. I thought maybe we were expected to store them in the bank so they would transfer to our new characters upon release. It's a relief that I didn't throw a bunch of money away on something I'd never actually get a chance to use!

:thanks:

Do you mean they're only giving out the preorder bonuses one time? Like, you get the Explorer's Pack exactly once and everything in it? That makes sense to me but I'm not sure I understand your question exactly. It's why I was concerned, thought I might have lost my only copy. I guess they could have made it so that you could have a copy of each pet and treasure map per character but who knows, that might be perceived as slightly unfair. I can just see people making alts and repeatedly finding treasure, then selling it all to make a bunch of excess cash, lol. At least the pet should be easily transferrable from character to character via the bank, not a big problem.

Unless this ^ means they've changed their minds and decided you only get one item from the Explorer's Pack, but I doubt (hope) that's not what was meant haha.

I did searches on here, TF, and google, and could never find it... but sometimes I am oblivious to things (part of that whole ADHOLS problem, Attention Deficit Hyperactive OH LOOK SQUIRREL!)

I would like if the had a function in game that managed in-game things so that you got the item, used it, and from then on, any toon could call it from there... would simplify things a great deal.
