Will races still start with traits?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:24 pm

Yes,this is my first post......and yes,im sure there is another thread similar to this one.......but I didnt see one recently, especially after the new GI update which basically hints that "attributes" are now out of the game.So with that said,do you think "traits" are still in?
I like the idea of "you are what you play",but I also want some sort of decision when choosing my "race" other than just looks. For example,I think it would be silly if an Argonian did not start the game with "water breathing".
I think "traits" will still be in,but with all the changes who knows.Im curious as to what everyone else is thinking at this point.

yes they will most likley be in. they only took classes and atributes out. traits are a part of racial identity. a argonian without water breathing or a khajiit with no night eye would be stupid. and while were on the topic of night eye, i hope it doesnt turn the screen blue again

Berserk for Nords. And make the frost resistance trait a bit useful for once. Maybe make it protect you from certain diseases?

Yep, they decided a nice "Blinding Neon Rainbow Spectrum of Suizure Inducing Orange" would be a more appropriate representation of being able to see in the dark. :D

And yes, they're keeping traits in.

Agreed, but I like to see khajiit's night eye to be passive.

Thank you, that's what I wanted to hear,lol.....and good call on the night eye,I also disliked the screen turning blue. The reason I never used it.
Creating my character is one of the most exciting parts of the game IMO,and removing "traits" would take away from that.

(copied from other post, but probably more appropriate here)
As long as the make the Race bonuses part of the gameplay (maybe permanent skill bonuses? 105 instead of 100 for High Elf magics).

Redguards' Adrenaline Rush should activate automatically when your low on health,
Khajiits' Night Eye should activate automatically in dark caves (the lighting transitions from dark to light).
Orcs' Berzerk should acticate when you land many attacks in quick succession (eg: fill your invisible rage meter).

And Dunmer's Ancestral guardian should actually be useful...

In the behind the scenes interview with Todd, he stated that they want the differences between the races to be meaningful. I can't be bothered going back to watch the video again, but the words he chose made it sound like the differences are going to be more than cosmetic - there will be tangible gameplay differences between the races. So, call this traits if you like, but I think we can look forward to something like that.

Attributes are out? You mean like 'Strength'?

I missed that hint.
