Will rain be dynamic as well?

Post » Tue Jun 22, 2010 9:14 pm

Alright, so we have heard a lot about snow being dynamic, and it's extremely cool. Thing is, snow never did bother me in previous games, what bothered me the most was the rain falling down through rooftops... dare I say, it didn't look so good...

Anyway, I've been wondering about the rain in-game.

A septim for your thought?

Probably like snow reacts to objects except it slips on objects surface.

Most games these days have that so its rather standard for a game that has rain/weather. I dont think its been confirmed though.

I should hope so, this should be standard. While we're at it, can we detach the rain mesh from the player camera? Running forward and seeing the rain come with you ain't my jam.

Ugh if anything the snow bothered me a lot in Oblivion. It gives me slight motion sickness when I pay attention to it because it moves with the player. Even Bloodmoon's snow was way better.

But on topic, the rain falling through surfaces was kind of an eyesore in Oblivion so I hope they did fix it. Haven't heard anything about it though.

If rain is in, I would love puddles and rain to well... fall on the surface on stuff. And not disappear through the ground.

notice in the trailer that snow's not necessarily drops, it floats. (Though there was this part where there was this snow-storm where it actually dropped)
Wonder if they've been working on the rain as well, and if so, how come they didn't confirm anything about it by now?

It should be yeah. It rains up north too...
And there is temperate climate. And often overcast as we have seen. That means it should/could also be rain.

I would want rain to be like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHoSMFSksFg

looks good, though I'd expect more from a game with dynamic weather settings and different kind of storms like Skyrim.

I dont see why they wouldnt have rain too in the southern area. I mean, it cant snow everywhere, especially not in that fall forest...that would just look stupid.

The Wticher had this in 2006, we should be able to do it in 2011

Oblivion didn't have it in 2006.

I was very disappointed.

It's really not that big of a deal xD but would be great seeing a few NPCs running away into their houses from a rain storm.

I love a good rainstorm, IRL and in games. That Red Dead clip was pretty close to what I'm hoping for. Rainy days in Oblivion (despite the flaws in rain animation) were the perfect atmosphere for some Dark Brotherhood missions. :P

I would love different audio sounds when it rains as well. Like when it rains in a town, and the rain is hitting iron buckets or different metal object it makes a hollow kinda sound. And making the rain flow in little streams down the street would bring a tear to my eye

it was in vampire bloodlines which was a bug riddled bugtacular bugfest of unfinishedness. that game was in 2005 so if its not in skyrim that would just be ........wow........really pathetic. in case anyone misunderstands i play bloodlines every year and it never leaves my harddrive except for reinstalls for new mods. its one of the best games ever WITH the unofficial patch.

WTF! obviously rain is on, there's no need for confirmation, there is no reason to take out rain, since it was nothing, it didn't affected the player in anyway, it just made the world more alive, there IS NO reason to take it out, so yea, it is in.. what a stupid question..
