So will we return to the realm of oblivion?

Hunting Grounds (Part of? Bloodmoon)

You didn't go to the Hunting Grounds in Bloodmoon. The whole thing about the Bloodmoon Prophecy was that Hircine would hold his Great Hunt on Nirn (it was inside the glacier in northern Solstheim), which he's allowed to do every 1000 years or so.

Don't know about Oblivion, but I have a feeling we'll be traveling to Boethiah's realm at some point.

I'd be up for another Oblivion(the realm not the game)-based expansion like Shivering Isles.

Or a sidequest that actually uses unique assets.(As opposed to wherever Boethiah sent us.)

Unsure, we may see a visit to one of the other realms of the deadric princes however. I think whatever is mentioned in the trailer is not going to be mehrunes dagon and his minions.

Before Oblivion came out, Bethesda implied that each realm of oblivion would be different, and unique. I was under the impression that there would only be maybe 7-8 massive realms, but that each one would have different terrain, daedra, and art design. I was sorely disappointed. Consequently, I expect to be disappointed again.

"their defeat was merely a delay, for a time after oblivion opened"

From that i get the impression whatever "they" are, they were defeated long before the oblivion crisis, which would suggest it isnt another threat from oblivion.

they were the dragons i believe.... dont take my word for it!

For being the realm of godlike spiritual beings Oblivion was surprisingly unimpressive.

I would rather want them to put more effort in to making the atmosphere of Skyrim richer then tinkering with generic Oblivion realms.

I'd like to go to Moonshadow or the Web because they would be unique.

Also did we visit any realms in Morrowind?
If so this makes it better than Oblivion because I hate Khajiits. :P

Which realms did we visit in Oblivion anyway? Aside from having different names they all looked the same. Besides Shivering Isles.

The Realm of Sheogorath (The Shivering Isles),

and the Realm of Mehrunes Dagon (the hellish place you visited most). Both are realms of oblivion.

It is possible that we might visit the realm of some other daedric prince, which would look entirely different from either of the above.

dude its not all "snowy peaks" there is a diverse environment...but its theme is mountains

Indeed, Skyrim is far more diverse than Cyrodil. Perhaps as diverse as Vvardenfel, maybe more so considering its size. But not as alien, obviously.

No realms of oblivion in the main quest for me. I wouldnt mind visiting small sections of oblivion realms for side quests but thats where I draw the line. And this time, I dont want side quest realms to look identical to another Daedric princes domain.

Mankar camoran's paradise was also a (small) realm.
Oblivion is not a place that belongs to Deadra princes only, it's basically a infinite mass of chaos.

Deadric princes are thought of being born spontaneously out of Oblivion, just like Tamriel and the Gods itself maybe... but the last one is considered a blasphemous subject by many. ;-)

I sincerely hope not. The oblivion gates became a tedious chore by the end.

Oblivion is, IIRC, everything outside of Mundus. The Deadlands is Dagon's realm, and the Shivering Isle is Sheogorath's.

I hope not, they had their chance to make something interesting out of it and kinda blew it with generic hell landscapes. I'd rather see something new.

completely agree.

i seriously be incredibly disappointed if i find they have oblivion gates in the game again.
its the one thing that puts me off playing oblivion again one more time. i dread them, not because theyre hard but because they are boring and all the same.

such a cookie cutter waste of space. after youve seen 2 or 3 of them youve seen them all, and they become a chore more than fun after about the same amount.

Absolutely! I loved the planes of Oblivion despite the lack of variation. It felt hostile just like it should.

i'd rather not repeat closing 20000 portals over and over. Definately would like to see some new landscapes/caves etc.

Going by the trailer, if we only delayed the daedra invasion.. will we have to return to the fiery hells of oblivion once again?

I would not mind at all... it would make a great counter to the snowy peaks of skyrim.

but rather than a series of cut/paste 'gates'.. have oblivion as a definate seperate landmass which will always be the same, and have its own world map thusly.

The trailer didn't say we only delayed the daedra. They were talking about dragons, either literally or metaphorically. My guess is it will be the ka'po'tun as they are the only dragons that have been relevant in lore as having a grudge against the empire, or it will be totally new lore involving dragons. The ka'po'tun only have one dragon that we know of (their king), but it was a long time ago that he became a dragon, and its very possible that more of his people have become them as well.

Either way, I'm certain we will return to Oblivion, but it will most likely be in side quests (i.e. the daedric shrine quests) and not within the main quest.

That was only one Daedric princes land though

What about SI? That was Oblivion and it didn't look hellish.

For the love of Nurgle, I hope not! Oblivion is losing its mystery and danger since OB. Plus, the OB crisis was special, in that the barriers were nearly gone, so all sorts of daedric interference was able to occur. In reality, it takes a LOT of power and mental fortitude to be able to enter a realm.

Vaermina's realm! I love dreams and nightmares. They're the only place where a person can defy and break physics & thermodynamics.
