Will we see PC footage before release?

Post » Sun Jul 03, 2011 4:59 am

Yo!

Firstly ,let me say i'm very impressed with the Xbox footage i have seen.

in the Ausgamer interview Tod Gives his reasons for showing it on the xbox.

1. It's easier to show a Demo using the Xbox

2. He would rather people see it on the Xbox and be impressed and then it takes a step up when we see the PC footage.

Well it worked,i am impressed. But now i would like to see it on PC :D

NO FLAMING PLATFORMS PLEASE..just wondering if you think they will release any PC footage before release .

I would assume it would be likely, but who knows. Regardless, I'm sure 360/PS3 graphics will be the default or "medium" settings on the PC. It really depends on what info Bethesda wants to release before the game arrives.

Sure and they are still working on optimizing it for PC i guess! I don't expect we'll see PC footage anytime soon but a little sneaky peak would be awesome.

I doubt that we will, at least not knowingly so. If anywhere between 80 and 90 percent of your game sales come from the consoles, you make sure that target audience is catered to. Show them what they can expect and will get, make them want it. Not make them want something else that they might not be able to get.

They might show some max graphics PC shots near release to bring up the hype some more.

Very true..oh well,it's gunna be a long few months!

In a way i'm glad really. Hopefully it will have more of an impact when i boot the game up.
I have a pretty high end PC but if i can't max the settings then something will be upgraded. If any game is worth an upgrade it's gotta be skyrim :)

I doubt it, if they showed PC screens off...many people on the consoles would think thats what the game will look like for them and then feel betrayed when it doesnt.

I know most here wouldnt, but most wouoldnt read the fine print of an image.

Honestly, the game looks decent enough on the Xbawx that I won't really be disappointed, at least till I play Battlefield.

??? I don't understand.

What does the 360/PS3 have to do with medium settings on the PC?

This is approximately what the consoles were set to for Oblivion, if I remember correctly. Medium textures, medium draw distances.

Mostly likely not, here is probably why.

  • It is ported to the PC & the PS3 Durring the last few months of the game (probally in a month or two)
  • They will probally not have time to show it off/they don't want to post new stuff
  • and thats all I can think of, but I would be glad for you to prove me wrong!

He's saying the way the game looks on the 360/PS3 will most closely resemble the game running on PC on medium settings. Draw distance is low, flora density is low, textures/shadows aren't as sharp.

LOLz, the PC version will have fully Next-gen DirectX11 graphics, hair physics, water physics, no loading between cells, crossbows, spears, etc. If they showed it off no one would buy the console versions.

I played Brink on the PS3 and it had some of the worst aliasing I had ever seen on a console game. Looked even drearier than the lifeless screenshots that at least had straight lines...

I honestly don't think they're going to show us PC stuff, and if they do it will be in massively small capacity. There will be no comparisons, only a few bits of screens so we can go on about the texture resolution  I'm not saying that Bethesda doesn't care for their PC audience, they obviously do at least given the mod perspective, but the fact that everything is being developed for console first and then upscaled just shows me that it's not going to look as good as it could. Still better than consoles, but just not to "PC standards".

but they are only 1280x720 resolution

Also it was my understanding that the console textures were low res, rather than medium. (also, low quality shadows, etc.) and around 2 x AA, no AF

1920x1080 display with hi res textures, high quality shadows, high quality blur, 8 x AA, 8-16 x AF, SSAO, etc. should look quite different from any of the console demo footage we've seen

Don't forget maxed out LOD. The PC will be able to render more distant objects.

It's not ported to the PC in the last few months of the development. Quite the opposite, it's been running on developer PCs for a very long time so everyone who works with the Creation Kit easily can test their stuff ingame.

In any case, I wouldn't bet on seeing any PC footage before the release. But I sure would love to see a video show and explaining how the PC UI works.

dont worry you likely will see some pc footage before release. also its best not to make any topics that have either PC or console in there name they almost always meet a quick end due to console warfare even if the OP doesn't want such a thing to happen.

I guess the irony is that the better the pc version looks, the less likely they are to show it?

If it looked like crap I don't think they would want to show it either, though
