Will Shadowmere Return In Skyrim?

Post » Sat Oct 09, 2010 12:23 am

But don't they only reform in Oblivion and then must make their way back to the mortal world? As opposed to getting knocked unconscious and waking up after 20 seconds.

Okay then, what is Barbas? (Clavicuses dog) she could be in the same category

Um... why? Barbas is supposed to be a Daedra right? Owned by a Daedric prince. No evidence against it as far as I'm aware. Shadowmere is a horse, owned by a human, which does not die and return to Oblivion to reform, but gets unconscious and wakes up again, probably as a gameplay mechanic rather than intended lore. What's the similarity?

I though Barbas was a higher category of Daedra, Shadowmere is probably just a horse, and I doubt she'll come back because she won't reall be missed, unlike Adoring Fan :chaos:, Divayth Fyr and of course Ma'iq

Barbas is a mystery, and some things are better kept a mystery. (Tom Bombadil)

I do not recall any background information stating that shadowmere is anything but a normal horse.

Sithis is Padomay is the primordial chaos and is not a daedra.

There also have been other instances of recurring characters, most notably my favorite of all time, Barenziah.

Shadowmere is Lucien Lachance's Black Horse. She is given as a reward for completing the Dark Brotherhood quest The Purification. She is one of the fastest horses in the game, as well as having a moderate attack, decent enough to aid in fighting multiple opponents. Shadowmere is also an 'essential' character, meaning that she cannot die, only become unconscioud.

That's the main portion of the Shadowmere page, and it doesn't state anything about it being an immortal of any kind. I think Shadowmere was just marked essential to make it the best horse in the game so when you're rewarded with her, you're not just like, "Oh yay, a horse..."

This is, of course, a correct summarisation of the topic

Even if Shadowmere were, in fact, Tiber Septim reborn, I would still say no. No no no no no. It gets to a point where you may as well just say, hey, let's fight Mankar Camoran and the Mythic Dawn again!

Divayth Fyr - that would be awesome! - Maybe he could be leading some tribe of Dunmer refugees, I would love that, even if it was just a bit part.

If horses are actually in and improved in every way possible, sure, I don't have a problem with it.

If the horses stay at the level of quality they had in Oblivion (Terrible) then no, no shadowmere, no horses at all.

UESP, Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages.

Meaning that its not done by Bethesda.
Its still a wiki kinda thing, and hands down the very best site at information about elder scrolls gameplay, and increasingly, established lore.

No more of this UESP bashing please.

Has to wonder about other npc, Arvena Thelas is more a tradition as she was in Morrowind to. However she is kind of used up and looks old, I doubt she will last 200 years.
Falanu Hlaalu had been cool as an Easter egg, she had to be a boss necromancer or similar.
Divayth Fyr had been cool, also pretty realistic as he has been around forever and is hard to kill.

No, that was Drarayane Thelas, possibly a sister or a relation.
Anyway, Drarayane hates rats. Arvena loves them.

Someone who was both in Morrowind and Oblivion was Elante of Alinor (simply called Elante in Morrowind)
In Morrowind she was a hostile NPC, in Oblivion you did a fighters guild quest involving her.

No, she will be long dead. IF horses are even in the game as mounts they might implement a new quest reward horse.

Also saw in a previous post Mephala=/=Night Mother.

She was not, they are sisters, not the same person.

It would be nice to know if Divayth took Yagrum with him when red mountain erupted.

And as for the topic, I don't really care for Shadowmere, to me it was simply a... Horse, and essential for some unknown reason.

You are right I believed it was the same lady but has not checked.
Elante of Alinor appears to been in Morrowind race and research is similar, she also look young enough. However she is pretty obscure but it only make her a better Easter egg.

UESP, Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages.

It isn't generally too good for lore, but when it comes to Oblivion content, it tends to be pretty comprehensive. If someone offers official documentation that Shadowmere is anything other than a horse with an eye irritation, then I will consider the possibility that she will be in Skyrim.

I agree, but it also means that it's run by fellow players who have to interpret the game the same way everyone else does, they explain pretty well the mechanics behind shadowmere's immortality, but they don't portray any for/against opinion on whether she's supposed to be immortal in game, or if it is just the mechanic.

If shadowmere is immortal i think she'll belong to master of DB in Skyrim Timeline, maybe to protagonist of oblivion or new master of DB.I think that there can be sounds about count of Skingrad(i forgot his name xD) cuz he vampire and vampires live veeeery long if they survive from being killed.

If she is back I hope they let you just store stuff in saddle bags! I used to feel really bad knocking out my trusty steed to store my loot!
