Will Shadowmere Return In Skyrim?

Post » Fri Oct 08, 2010 6:56 pm

Well even though Skyrim will be 200 years after Oblivion, Shadowmere is immortal and could find herself in Skyrim sometime during the games timeline. I don't no anyone who didn't love Shadowmere, me included. It would be awesome to see her show up again whether it be in a quest or not but with the new engine and graphics and mechanics, I bet she would look really cool.

That would be awesome, let's just hope that Nirn's first submarine wasn't eaten by M'aiq.

not likely...

Shadowmere is simply 1 'character' from oblivion, it has the same chance as any other character making an appearance.....more likely there will be a shadowmere like horse (if there are horses) in reference to him in oblivion.

Yeah I agree. Although Todd said in the podcast that they're still messing with mounts and is unsure if they will fit into the game as mounts. Horses in general will still most likely be in the game but unmountable...if that's a word.

I think she has more of a chance of showing up than any other character because if 200 years have passed since the events of Oblivion then most of the characters from Oblivion would be dead.

Wow that would be a real bummer to not ride horses again. Hopefully well be able to saddle the dragons instead or in addition too mounting horses.

Why not? It is no weirder than any of the artifacts from Morrowind like Umbra appearing in Oblivion, if Shadowmere is immortal it would be nice to see her again in Skyrim. That being said we dont even know if mounts will be in game at this point so I guess we will see when Skyrim comes out.

Not really....elves have a lifespan of several thousand years (Divith Fyr is over 4000 years old), so put in the box of as likely as one of the elven character in oblivion returning.

I don't remember any element pointing to the fact that Shadowmere is immortal...

Horses don't live 200 years, and besides, Shadowmere wasn't very cool.

Uh... she was only immortal as a game mechanic. She's not supposed to be a mystical horse. I guess we'll see the counts and countesses as well, sincethey are also clearly immortal.

Shadowmere doesn't have anywhere near the amount of influence in ES as Dogmeat had in Fallout so a return from Shadowmere is not really worth it (unless Todd wants to create another tradition from nothing like the 'prison' thing), and no character in ES (other than Uriel and Ma'iq) is recurring (unless you count Umbacano)

What? He didn't create it from nothing. It's tradition.

She was a vampiric horse and most things vampiric have an immortal attribute tied to them as the nature of being a vampire. Plus that's why you can't kill her in Oblivion and can only knock her unconscious. It even says shes immortal in the strategy guide.

Shadowmere... I had to stop and wonder who that was for a moment.

Yes Shadowmere would still be around 200 yrs later.
thing is best remembered is that shadowmere was in fact a knightmare equivilent Daedra in the Elderscrolls created by Sithis.

whether or not you see it in Skyrim would depend on:
a: whether or not mounts get put in correctly
b: that Sithis only gifted that creature to the DB of Cyrodil
c: insert other option here

When was it stated she was anything other than Lucien Lachances horse? P.S. Notice that that guide is a STRATEGY guide, not a lore guide. It will tell you how things work in the game, not how thye are logically supposed to be.

Oblivion was te first game with it and then he said "It's a tradition it HAS to be in Skyrim" rather than waiting for the player base to recognise it as a tradition he tells us that it is a tradition

It's a tradition since it has been that way in one form or another in almost every single game so far. And while he's head of Bethesda, it's his right if he wants to continue the tradition. Plenty of people recognise it, and Oblivion was certainly NOT the first game with it, or else how would it be recognised by the people here as a tradition before it was announced (it was, by many)?

Todd's Tradition=Prisoner for some petty crime
Oblivion=Prisoner for some petty crime
Morrowind=Prisoner due to possibly fulfilling the Nereverine prophecy
Daggerfall=Sent on a diplomatic mission by Uriel and trapped in a cave after your ship crashed
Arena=Imprisoned by a traitor to the empire

I'm not seeing the tradition Todd is suggesting

With the exception of Daggerfall all the major Elder Scrolls games have the player starting out as a prisoner, I would say that is the tradition Todd is talking about.
