Will skyrim have katana's / cutlesses?

Post » Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:32 pm

I believe I said this on previous post a page ago, yes there will. It makes sense since most people already have said there are some influences in Skyrim. But like I said, there would be influence South or East of Skyrim since it's where most of the influence comes from. Cyrodiil and Morrowind.

Oh, I must have missunderstood. My bad.

Actually false my friend. While the West experimented and made even better swords way before the Katana was even dreamed of being born, for some reason Japan stayed with their inferior ones.

Other Eastern countries on the other hand..

Wtf is the name of this sword?! Now Im interested.

Well, I know that katanas are very mythified, however... weren't they great for slashing? I heard that they cut very well.

If they could cut off limbs in one clean strike like nothing, yes they do,that would involve having to cut though flesh and bone. And bones pretty hard.

The intention of it was for easy slashing yes, but sadly for the fans it fails at that too. It was originally intended to cut down peasants. The style of which it would be use would also limit you from certain techniques that would other wise be crucial to a fight.

Actually I remember seeing a show on tv that shows high-speed footage at like 100000 frames per second of a bullet being sliced right in half from a stationary katana with the bladed edge facing the bullet.

Pretty freakin epic.

I really hope there are a variety of classic swords in the game, though my wish that there would be different play styles with different swords will never happen <_<

No, you don't have a real authentic Katana. What you have is an imitator you bought on the flea market. Sorry. The last known place to get a real Katana was in the Ryukyu Islands or in Kyoto which are said to be extremely expensive. So unless you went to those places and paid all that money, I do not think so friend.

Thats not the point,I wasnt talking about the sharpness of the katana or the hardness of the bullet in that statement,I was just mentioning how cool it looked.

Ever played GunZ Online? Ever seen those fake shows that shows people blocking bullets with a Katana? I thought it was pretty cool that its physically possible to cut a bullet, but of course in reality,no one would ever be able to since it travels way to fast and by the time someone saw the muzzle flash of the gun, they would of already been shot.

I know its not a real AUTHENTIC katana, but that wasn't the point. The point was it cost me 400$ and it should hold up to real Katana standards for that price, yeah sure they can go for as high as 2000$,but not the case here, anyways if I was able to cut through flesh and bone on a pig in one strike,I think it does. That one guy said its not possible.

The only way that could happen is if a fixture hold it in a place straight, but of course the speed of the bullet and impact would be possible for it to split, but it's very hard. I do not hope you are comparing a Firearm to a Katana. And if it's the sharpness, then it's not, because it doesn't do anything against mail.

Also, I can't find a video clip of it, but on Deadliest Warrior, they've shown somebody cutting through like two and a half pigs.

Hold on. Let's not pretend this is amazing or that the sword is hyper sharp. Can you cut a bullet in half with a sword (any sword) using human strength? Nope. The sheer amount of energy in the bullet is the only reason it fragments and... guess what... a bullet can fragment hitting just about anything. EVEN WATER!!!!!!!

Very true. Which is why I said it could be hold by a fixture and probably the impact made it disperse. But then again it's TV, most of the stuff on TV nowadays are trash, I don't even watch TV nowadays (Even though I wasted good money on a big TV).

Yes it was being held in place, and no Im not -___- Theres a reason the US Army uses guns instead of a sword. You'd be shot by the time you got up close to the person.

And yes,if a Machete can do it,a Katana can as well :]
Off topic though but.....Machete always reminds me of that guy from Spy Kids and Predators lmfao.

Danny Trejo? It's the same guy in all of them. His character in Spy Kids is even nicknamed "Machete".
