Will skyrim have katana's / cutlesses?

Post » Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:18 pm

Danny Trejo? It's the same guy in all of them. His character in Spy Kids is even nicknamed "Machete".

His character in the film "Machete" is the same character as the Spy Kids "Machete", they're just completely different movies. :P

i would like to have a ninja weapon (ninja ftw :teehee: ) but the katana fits in the lore and i dont know if a kama does
while we are on eastern (i think its western in the elder scrolls, with akavir and all) weapons, i would like to have iron shavings that can blind somebody when thrown

a kama and iron shavings (both used by ninjas [i seen it on the history channal  ]) would be great weapons for assasins and thieves

You sir/or ma'm are implying that katanas are a) lighter than the average longsword/other western weapon, and b ) require more finesse.
You sir/or ma'm are wrong on both counts.

Also I'm so tired of lulz katanas cut thru steel cause folded 1000 times by sword master hype I hope they do not appear in this game.

katanas are among the greatest swords in the world, and they most likely will be in skyrim in some form or another, either normal ones, an akaviri one hidden somewhere, or one of the two artifacts: ebony blade or goldbrand.

i've watched a modern day samurai slice a bullet fired at him before, with his eyes closed, even... so do NOT underestimate those swords and the people who know how to wield them, because i will defend them to the death. :toughninja:

you'd be surprised what some people are capable of, especially with the proper sword in their hands.

Though I think that katanas were, indeed, good weapons for their time, good at cutting stuff (or at least Wikipedia tells so)... you must take into account that modern katanas are probably made with modern techniques. And that everything in TV is controlled in some way.

I really cannot believe this post, I don't get how so many people are blindly in love with Japan, this hate for the West needs to stop, people need to be proud of where they are from, I honestly see this has to do with something else, I won't go too far from it. Katanas are in fact one of the worst weapons ever.

"i've watched a modern day samurai slice a bullet fired at him before" With that name and avatar...

Please listen to what you just have said. Say it out loud.

Are you referring to that one episode of Superhumans by Stan Lee? I saw that too, pretty sweet. And the bullet was the size of a freakin pea. Or was it a musket shot....I forget. Anyways yeah that was epic xD

First off,no one said they hated the West. I love Claymores and Axes just as much as Katanas.

2nd off, thats pretty dumb to imply just because his Avatar is an anime character, hes automatically lieing. And hes not,you should watch the show.

So...Machete(the character) originates from a 2001 kids movie, who was then featured in a fake movie trailer of his own, who then got his own violent movie that is most certainly not for kids? For some reason, my only response to this is "why?" Why take a character from a kid's movie and then make him into a machete-wielding badass?

Really? The ones defending these types of arguments are always those who are fixated in Japanese history and anime lovers, which wasn't really as excited as many other historical events. The ones with these types of Japanese/Anime names and avatars that I would guarantee you most of the Japanese artists in Japan hate, because they have been limiting them and basically only creating one type of style, are the ones defending the type of argument. If you didn't already know, no man with a sword can cut through a bullet that has been fired at him. If it's a BB Gun then it's something else, but a real firearm? That's impossible, humans to this date don't have that type of capability. With his eyes closed? That's just blatantly lying in my face. He is also very biased in his post. Yes people can do amazing things with swords when fighting other people with other swords (LS vs Katana = LS/ Katana vs Katana is another thing)

Don't try to bring logic into this, you should just enjoy the carnage caused by Machete. :D

Cool it guys, it's a sword for a game, not real life. Don't make me come back here because it involves more work - and that makes me very grumpy.

They actually did. In fact, it would have been their weapon of choice generally. Note, they didn't use straight katanas like hollywood claims they did. The reason they wouldn't have is that they would be more easily identifiable that way. However, the katana wasn't their only weapon, they also used the chain and sickle and bows. There was also other equipment they used, though, such as primitive explosives and such.

This all of this

Ninjato's are Hollywood ninja weapons....

You, are very correct in grammar and spelling, and I must inform you that I hope they are in game. Because I like curved blades, such as Scimitars.

It's one of the many ways anime has butchered the real ninjas and used them to poison people's minds.

-DL :chaos:

This, just like how Assassins are confused with stealth killers. You don't have to be a stealth Character to be an assassin, just get a contract, and kill.

OT: I like them, but they are too mainstream. But I still like them.

Cut what out? The fact I lay down facts about something misrepresented worldwide and in Video Games. I am not here to upset anybody, if they did get upset, then it's their problem and they have to deal with that one way or the other.

I foresee, Esbern has a katana.

When he is tragically slain, the Dovahkiin takes Esbern's blade, and there will be an achievement for slaying Alduin with it.

I can dream.

That about "facts" is... debatable. Lots of objective sources tell me that, while katanas are not the incredible sabers of superawesome that some people think, weren't bad weapons.
