Possibly, but if they are in I'd imagine that they're very rare because Skyrim is so far from Akavir. You might find one or two in a noble Nords' collection armoury or something like that?

But I think Nords prefer big heavy weapons to fine ones that require lots of finesse.

You sir/or ma'm are implying that katanas are a) lighter than the average longsword/other western weapon, and b ) require more finesse.
You sir/or ma'm are wrong on both counts.

Also I'm so tired of lulz katanas cut thru steel cause folded 1000 times by sword master hype I hope they do not appear in this game.

Of course they should be in the game! Perhaps slightly rarer thought.

Well the amount of them found in Oblivion was rather surprising so I guess it's possible. If Pale Pass makes a return...

I'm not a fan of stereotyped Japanese weaponry. Every time I see it included in a game it just reeks of 'pleasing the ninja-fanatics'.

But it fits with the game lore-wise, so its inclusion would be good.

Ninjas didn't use Katanas. Damnit, I'm wrong! Apparently Ninjas did use the Katana, and the weapon I thought they used didn't exist. Damn you Deadliest Warrior, you lied to me!

Katanas are lighter then the Average midevil sword

Ninjas didn't use Katanas.

It's one of the many ways anime has butchered the real ninjas and used them to poison people's minds.

I can not stop thinking in Samurais when I see the Katanas. It's not like a "mundane" iron sword, it's a obvious "japanese-reference" sword.
But not a big deal because it fits the Akavir lore very-well and I like them.

I sure hope so. Maybe we could see Goldbrand or the Ebony Blade again?

No reason for Nirn to have anything that resembles a European sword either.

And Esbern really, really aught to have one, even if it's the only one in the game.

Pretty much this.

It would be nice to see a few Akavir weapons but hopefully not too many :-)

They actually weigh about the same, the varience being on the individual sword in question, not the style.

eeeeeehh....Why? Then again, my total dislike comes from the fact people make them out to be uber chainswords of ultimate doom, and surfing on a motorcycle going 10000mph awesome. It's annoying!

Cutlasses? As long as there are seamen and pirates.

by the lore there are reasons cutless' and katana's can be in skyrim. skyrim was host to the akiviri invasion in the first era durring the first empire of men and they had katanas in morrowind so I am sure some of the refugees made it from red mountain with some. As for cutless' well the nords are knows to be great sailors and have a large merchant fleet so there should be some pirates or sailors from the port cities with some. but as alwayse this is just speculation on my part and its ultimately up to Bethesda (it is there game after all) and Bethesda alone.
