will skyrim improve on oblivion?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:10 pm

I remember the first time I went on oblivion, it was my very first xbox 360 game, then I got the game of the year edition on ps3 coz the 360 died.
Oblivion was the greatest most awesome game i ever experienced I played thousands of hours through countless different saves, but im wondering will skyrim be able to beat that very high standard?
it seems imposible to imagine, and now the devs are gonna make a huge mistake in the form of online modes.
sure online mode is an awesome prospect and even makes me excited BUT will it affect the single player game in any way?

usually when they make online modes they savagely cut huge parts of single player, or forget to take out huge bugs.
so please bethesda dont do anything to ruin the single player we want it to be an improvement on oblivion, I want it to blow my mind with its vastness in a way oblivion did.

oh and take out those bugs I dont want to keep reebooting my console or having to sit through what looks more like a slow picture show.

What? Skyrim is confirmed to be single-player only. This thread is useless :/

That's hard to say. The simple fact that you say Oblivion is the
greatest most awesome game i ever experienced
means that you're going to jump into Oblivion already comparing it to something it's not. Throw on a few layers of Nostalgia, and it's very likely you'll end up disappointed, no matter how great the game actually is.

erm but i thought there was a online mode thingy?
well this wouldnt be a problem if bethesda had a proper imformation web site, theres no info on their web site, maybe coz its too early.

but someone has been spreading news that it will have a online mode I thought it was common knowledge

Nope, Bethesda does not make multi-player games. They've made this very clear.

You probably read that off of a very misinformed site.

Indeed, no online mode will be in Skyrim. Misinformation on the internet is very common, I even think there is a trailer of TES 5, Shadow Realm somewhere.. Yeah right.

Don't worry about the high standard either. Oblivion is great, but when you look into it there are THOUSANDS of ways to improve it.

oh god relax lol, just tell him there aren't any online modes no need to bring the flamethrowers. don't worry your fears can be quenched there are no online modes beyond potential requirement of steam or something in that sense.

and the ugly guy already made the post you need to heed in regards to Skyrim and Oblivion

The reason you almost got banned is probably because you came off as a jerk, such as the case now. You don't have to "yell and cuss" to get your point across that there wont be multiplayer.

1. Isn't there an "official" multiplayer thread for all of this?

2. Todd has confirmed that he and BGS will never ever make an Elder Scrolls Online.

3. I wouldn't say making it multiplayer would improve the game. I think it would make it a whoooooole lot worse.
