WIll Skyrim be more informative than Oblivion was?

Has anything been said about in game descriptions?

When playing Oblivion I noticed a lack of explanations for stats. For example, the character creation part of the game didn't tell you in numbers what the starting skills/attributes of each race was.

Another example is it doesn't tell you that your damage won't go up further from strength once you've hit 100.Effectively making strength enchantments/spells near worthless.

I think think they need to add notes explaining these kinds of things. There's no reason that I should have to buy a book or go onto the internet to learn these kinds of things.

but they got rid of those stats and stuff like strength cuz you don't need them and noone wants to read that much and look at all the numbers so now they don't have to.

True, they did remove the attributes. It's an rpg though, numbers are a part of it.Anyone who doesn't want to deal with them is playing the wrong kind of game imo.

Yeppers. And if your anything like me, you read the manual before you play. Here's hoping Skyrim's Manual won't be pathetically small

I don't think so though because I love Oblivion and Skyrim and my friends to but we don't want to have to figure out all the numbers and stuff. so I think you can totaly have an RPG without all of that and so does Bethesda.

considering there will virtually be no up front stats to explain, so no. the effects will still be there of course but I don't think we will have any more controll over what they do beyond the simplist examples.

I rely on the guide rather than the manual tells you basically what your going to get in the game and its very discriptive.

Uh, No.

Yeah, but the guide doesnt come with the game, the manual does. There's no excuse for not knowing what somthing does thats in the manual, unless your game didnt come with a manual.

Yeah that's all very well, but plenty of TES fans are a bit older and remember the days of pen & paper RPGs and want a bit more out of our games than "pew pew whoosh bang button awesome" type thing. Plenty of us want something a bit more complex. If you just want to go and shoot bosses and win levels and not have to worry about character development that you want to plan out, that depend more on player skill than character development and the stats and "numbers" that back up that development, then there are no shortage of games where you can get that sort of experience. Personally I would prefer it if Skyrim provided a different more complex gaming experience than the one you are clearly after.

I just think that it wouldn't require much time to add a little more to the notes/descriptions for skills. When I wave over my blade skill why won't it tell me what perks I've unlocked along with my journeyman etc?

Though I had forgotten that they're making radical changes to the system with Skyrim.Sorry for making a semi pointless thread.
