Will Skyrim play like oblivion with the new engine?

I'm relieved, With everything you guys are saying it sounds like it's going to be a lot better!!

No offense... :whistling:
... but did you think the engine was going to be worse (or the same)? I mean... it's been 5 years ^^
That's heaps amount of time in the world of technology.

I have only just found out about skyrim to be honest. I had some horrible idea in my head they were changing the gameplay and it was going to become like mass effect. That's what I thought they meant by engine change lol.

Ever heard of Dragon Age? They made Dragon age 2 a LOT worse than 1. So games could get worse as they progress. It depends on who makes them. But this is Bethesda. They don't make bad games .

Those games are always CPU intense. I hope they will do threads optimization for PC.

Am I wrong, but it seems you're talking about the game Dragon Age as a whole? What I was talking about was the engine.

And yeah, I haven't played DA 2 but I've heard it's pretty bad. Off topic but, imo, Bethesda's games definitely aren't perfect (then again... there are no "perfect" games). They've all had some pretty big flaws here and there. But as a whole, their games have been absolutely extraordinary and still the best games I've ever played, and the ones I've played the longest. As a whole, FO3 impressed me the most, then MW, then OB :P

While waiting for Skyrim, you should buy Morrowind. And when you're finished with that, you should download Daggerfall and Arena.

Yes, highly recommended!

Morrowind is just fantastic. That was the first one I played. Daggerfall is a little hard to get used to, but once you have the controls configured to your liking, you'll get addicted to the dungeon crawling pretty fast. It's just nice to see how the series has evolved at any case.

They've rewritten the major features, yeah... but it's not as big as a step like from Morrowind to Oblivion. Todd said that himself in an interview. Improvement in technology is vital nowadays and good, yes :)

Actually, according to everything I've read, Skyrim is supposed to be a bigger leap than Morrowind -> Oblivion, so if you'd care to source your comment please? How many times have we heard "We had a huge list of technical improvements we wanted to make for the next game, we met all those and kept going.".

I just want a Hand-crafted world, no more procedural crap like Oblivion/Daggerfall.
