Will SKYRIM share anything with MORROWIND ?

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 2:06 pm

I hope it's not Morrowind 2.0, just the same as I hope it's not Oblivion 2.0. I'd see it as a huge disappointment if it was either of the two - I want a new game! Sure, take the best from both games (and other developments), but develop it and progress, don't just copy and paste. I know some people may be over the moon if they can come on here after release and say "it's just like Morrowind! :D", but I've already got that game.

I do hope so, as the best from Oblivion is all that come with advancement of the technologies, and I hope them even better in Skyrim, and the best from Morrowind is about all the other aspects that can give any depth and unique feeling to a game.

So a game with the full culture, atmosphere, depth and uniqueness of Morrowind with cutting edge technology that are even more advanced than Oblivion, and it is the best game ever, (till now).

Oblivion was catered to draw the casual crowd into the TES universe.

Indeed

I agree that Morrowind was an amazing game, but its really time to stop clinging to it. Not every TES game will be a CLONE of Morrowind

Ofcourse it SHOULD NOT be CLONE of morrowind. But it should look up to its original concept, style, atmosphere...

Morrowind had deeper Main quest and almost all the other aspects that an RPG can have.

Agree

Morrowind was 10 x more deep than Oblivion ever was, thats for sure ;)
BUT.. i do hope it is more along the feel of Morrowind.. it had such a deep immersion factor to it, something I thought Oblivion lacked a lot of. Let's hope they balance it out this time around.

Yeah i hope too. I hope they dont continue to dumb down this brilliant series and simplify it ... :(

The defining characteristic of the TES series is that each game is different. So why ask for basically a Morrowind remake?

Style and atmosphere should be entirely different. Unless of course, you just mean quality of style and atmosphere. Lore is a natural continuation, story should be new, a similar or greater level of political intrigue, and a similar number of guilds and factions.

We are not. We just want more original concept.... less traditional like Oblivion and more depth

I hope we will have much guilds like in morrowind and more than in oblivion ! and political intrigue !

To those here that liked the 'Whodunit?' Quest. Yes it was good, but it was not a original concept thought up by Betheshda writers. In fact they copied the general theme/progression of Agatha Christie's crime novel called; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_Then_There_Were_None. The whole quest was basically an easter egg in this regard.

And if a copied piece of real-world fiction turned into a minor quest is regarded as the best quest in Oblivion. I am starting to question the developers writing skills.

But regardless I do hope Skyrim doesn't disappoint, from what I've seen so far it looks promising; I wish for the best of both worlds.

There's no such thing as a completely original idea - I thought they were nodding to that by calling it "whodunit" personally - I hear people call something a "whodunit" book/film if it follows that kind of plot.

[Edit] Yeah I think they were - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whodunit quick wiki shows that this has been used again and again. It doesn't diminish it in any way, it's just a common plot device - didn't look at much on the wiki, but I doubt Christie was the first to come up with it either. But that doesn't make her a bad writer for doing it ;)
