Will skyrim be the greatest game ever made?

Post » Sun Aug 01, 2010 7:11 pm

It's silly to claim that Skyrim will be the best game ever made (or even the best game of the year) when we still know very little about it. Everyone is just all hyped up and thinking it's going to be the best thing ever, but I've been down that road before with Oblivion and I can tell you that taking such a stance can only lead to disappointment.

It's likely to be very good though.

Edit: And yeah, there's Deus Ex, as the Dentons above and below me mentioned.

Better than Deus Ex?

I don't think anything could be that awesome.

A remade FF7 maybe but the original just isn't worth the title, it's a great game, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have everything going for it and the gameplay can be tedious, compared to games which aren't turn based...

From what I've seen? Yeah. It looks beautiful, it appears to be highly playable, the combinations sound really well made.

My only qualm is the skill levelling, if it's exactly the same as oblivion I'm worried, personally I found it a good system in theory but poorly executed. However they seem to have put a lot more thought into it. I think they'll have sorted the kinks, but it does still worry me.

Still, it is shaping up to be absolutely amazing. I really want to see if it follows through.

Depends. At the moment its a bit sad to see that mass effect 3, which will prob take 2 years to make, is more anticipated than Skyrim for this year (recording to some most anticipated lists). So I do hope Skyrim blasts the gaming industry when it comes out.

Not ONLY. There is that off chance that it will be better than almost anyone expected.

I doubt skyrim will come close to the "best ever" game. But TESVII: Sithis, that one might have a shot. Big Black hand on the cover art? Hell yeah

Two Worlds 2 (i never played one) is in my opinion the [censored]tiest game i've ever played, if the horrible voice acting, lip synch and storyline you wouldn't believe (because of bad voice acting and choice of words) wasn't enough to ruin the game. then the animations made me want to puke, i had not played for more than 10 minutes until i wanted to uninstall the game and put it in a corpse incinerator where it would burn for about a month just to be sure thered be nothing left. except for the guys who made the models and textures for the game then everyone who took part in its development should die in a fire and suffer for eternity in the deepest circle of hell.
:flamethrower:

so do i think Skyrim is gonna be better? what kind of question is that? i just feel disgusted you put it up against Two Worlds and not something more like Dragon Age or Divinity or Fallout New Vegas (well of course its better than new vegas otherwise the title will have failed and bethesda wouldn't do that to us would they?) no offense meant for you personally tho.

For some yes, for most probably not.
A lot here are just after info, and crying out for the Devs attention, they'll drop out a week after the game fails to live up to what they wanted.
A majority will play it, love it or loathe it, mod it, discuss what's right or wrong with it and settle down to years of this untill the next TeS game.
A few will fall in love with it, it'll be their go to game, the one that first inspired them to look at things, and use their imagination.
Just as Planescape: Torment did / does for me.

Compared to Two Worlds, though? I mean, c'mon...that game is fun, but compared to any Bethesda-made (or "Bethesda-style") RPG out there, it utterly pales in comparison. As a single-player experience, TES V stands an excellent chance of trampling it into the dirt, albeit sight-unseen at the moment. If I get to spend upwards of another 200-300 hours of my life with this game, it'll automatically be up there in my estimation.

The world needs/deserves a remake of Final Fantasy VI way more than it deserves a remake of VII.

Two worlds won′t have its toes where Skyrim will have its heels.

There is just no competition at all, a win by default.

Have no idea what he said in the first line, but I agree with the underlined part lol
Skyrim will be a lot better than Two Worlds. After playing Oblivion, then looking around for other great games like it, I found Two Worlds, read on the back of the box "Oblivion on Steroids!"... Sold me! I was disappointed through the whole thing. It wasn't like Oblivion, and it WASNT Oblivion on Steroids. So I guess we could say Skyrim is Two Worlds 2 on Steroids... But that wouldn't probably won't do it justice :)

As for
Will Skyrim be the greatest game ever made
the answer is No. I don't believe in 'greatest game ever'. In 20 years from now, is there a chance Skyrim will be your favorite game? Yeah there is a chance, but that's besides the point! lol. You'll probably forget about Skyrim by then. Unless theres a remake :D

This seems to have less and less to do with Skyrim with each post, not that it really started about Skyrim either.
