If you want a better idea of walking distance, there's the "other" video.

That's the one I used.

OK, I went over the questionable video, and it takes approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds of straight walking (I deducted time spent in favourites, combat, menus, or standing still already) at a decent pace non-sprint to get from the start of the demo video just to Riverwood. At a rough estimate, it would be about 20x that distance to get to Solitude. I would say it's a good 60-70 minute run without a doubt to get from the start of the demo to Solitude. This is assuming there are no huge changes in elevation to add even more time to that.

Or people who don't use fast travel in general. You miss 90 percent of the game's content when you fast travel.

Who walks ?

I have to assume that you mean people that travel by foot and don't run. If that is the case, then those of us that like to take in and enjoy the world they have created.

And you can only properly calculate the time if you use the QuakeCon video.

I know that I, at least, won't be using horses until first person riding is modded in.

Screw Falkreath to Solitude. As soon as I can I'm taking a carriage to Riften and THEN walking to Solitude. Walking, baby.

I do, and although it takes a stupidly long time to do anything, in the end its very worth it.

You've never walked across all of Vvardenfell or Cyrodill before? You're missing out then, thats how some of the best random moments happen.

This is exactly why fast travel destroys the immersion. Big land? Who the [censored] cares, I can teleport.

You can choose to walk, ride horses and use carriages.

Amazing news, really. Took less than an hour to walk from one point of Cyrodill to the other. Like, 45 minutes, IF that. And that's at 100 speed skill.

Yeah, if you want to do that, sure.

I'll probably treat this one more like Morrowind and walk, ride horses (yay!) or use carriages (silt striders).

Which is incredibly stupid/pointless/immersion breaking. RP'ers don't use that trash. We actually you know, walk, and stuff.

I know that, but its like having a skill to insta-kill every enemy in the game.

Or a 'skip quest but get rewards' button.

No one has to use it, sure, but its bad design.
