It will take approximately 50 minutes to walk from Falkreath

I know that, but its like having a skill to insta-kill every enemy in the game.

Or a 'skip quest but get rewards' button.

No one has to use it, sure, but its bad design.

I have to disagree. Sometimes I have time constraints IRL, or I just don't feel like making the same trip for the billionth time.

FT comes in handy.

One hit killing can come in handy too.
Or skipping quests.

Why include a ridiculously overpowered feature just to have it sit there and have people say 'dont use it'

Carriages couldve been the solution.

There's carriages. Options for everyone. Don't like it, don't use it.

How is a simple FT as OP as Insta-Kill?

If people have the willpower to not type "kill" in the console, they probably have the willpower to not use FT.

Using the console, I already have both of those abilities in the game.

Besides that, fast travel is nothing like having an insta-kill skill or insta-quest skill. At least in my opinion.

I think it's great design. People that want to fast travel can do so and people that don't want to can also do so.

Odd. I recently got schooled in heightmaps and was told that a 16 quad length (4 times the size of Oblivion and supposed Skyrim) would take two and a half hours to run straight across. I find it doubtful even with the obstacles that it takes near that time to traverse Skyrim. The mountains will make it feel big, of course, but I would not think that big. Perhaps that's simply pessimistic or he got it wrong, but given that my experience in Oblivion was comparable to the results, I'd think it would feel just a big bigger than Oblivion. 10 extra minutes for the full length?

Cool. Longer it takes for me to get somewhere means more bandits to kill/loot, and more dungeons to explore.

Interesting. . .

Dude, I just followed your link to your youtube channel and watched 'loot'. You're a really good director I reckon- not sure why you're not more well known; try and publicise more perhaps. I subscribed to your channel and was wondering if you're gonna do a Skyrim LP?

So here is the basic path that Todd takes during his demo:

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn298/newhope6754/skyrimmap-Copy.jpg

According to the Quakecon demo (used because it is uncut & played live) It takes him about 18 minutes to get from point A to point B (subtracting the time spent in the dungeon). Todd was taking his time however so i figure it will be about 10 to 15 minutes if you really pushed.

The approximate path from Falkreath to Solitude can be seen here. Ive taken approximate guesses of the same distance and added them up to see how long it will take to get from Falkreath to Solitude.

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn298/newhope6754/skyrimmap-Copy-Copy.jpg

So it will take about approximately 40-60 minutes to get from Falkreath to Solitude. It will be about double that to go from
Riften to Solitude which equals about a two hour journey across the map. This is without stopping to fight monsters, talk to NPC's...ect

take some one horse should cut that by 60%

I remember a similar thread to this when the game was first announced and a certain user replied that philosophically speaking the whole argument that you don't have to use it is false if the option is available. I was always interested in knowing the argument. Should've asked em..
