It will take approximately 50 minutes to walk from Falkreath

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 10:53 am

So here is the basic path that Todd takes during his demo:

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn298/newhope6754/skyrimmap-Copy.jpg

According to the Quakecon demo (used because it is uncut & played live) It takes him about 18 minutes to get from point A to point B (subtracting the time spent in the dungeon). Todd was taking his time however so i figure it will be about 10 to 15 minutes if you really pushed.

The approximate path from Falkreath to Solitude can be seen here. Ive taken approximate guesses of the same distance and added them up to see how long it will take to get from Falkreath to Solitude.

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn298/newhope6754/skyrimmap-Copy-Copy.jpg

So it will take about approximately 40-60 minutes to get from Falkreath to Solitude. It will be about double that to go from
Riften to Solitude which equals about a two hour journey across the map. This is without stopping to fight monsters, talk to NPC's...ect

I haven't looked at how this compares to past games, but it seems really good. Especially since this doesn't count talking to NPC's and fighting, and if you stay at an inn for the night, ect.

Im pretty sure you have the path todd took wrong, he was by water pretty soon after starting...so that line should move closer to the water. x:

If you are right, that is awesome, very excited. Some people will hate that but that is why there is fast travel but I will enjoy it cuz I hated how it was MAYBE 30mins to in game time which is like 10mins real life time to get to a city from another town-_-

i tried to take into account land marks. remember when the fox crosses the road he as at a crossroads. so i put the start position slightly before the only crossroad near the area.

I'm sure the world will be, big enough, and full enough, for us all to be able to loose ourselves for many, many hours.

Daggerfall would take you two weeks non-stop to travel from one corner of the map to the other.
IM DISSAPOINTED.

Awesome, what I like is that you actually lose fatigue when you run :P and actually running is assigned to a button now right?
So yay for exploration!

Daggerfall was glitched beyond hell, and randomly generated landmass, so they could've made it infinite. However it looked silly and you found stupid things that hardly made sense all the time.

That sounds about right. It's comparable to the time it takes to get from Anvil to Cheydinhal.

If that's the case, I might give up walking for taking carriages. Doing one and a half hour of walking from city to city seems like a ludicrous idea to me, but I'll try to skip the fast-traveling option over.

It wasn't glitched if you used the patch. The landmass was random alright, but still, fast travel was much more complex and fun. And many dungeons weren't randomly generated, like the castle of Wayrest.

Im pretty sure these calculations are all wrong, besides, if you were at falkreath and wanted to go to solitude, why would you go all the way through Riverwood, a dungeon and pass whiterun, instead of just following the road directly from falkreath to solitude? Just sayin.

Wonder how long it'll take to get from Markarth to Riften, going down the middle, through Whiterun...

Dang, that's still nothing compared to Daggerfall but much more than Oblivion and Morrowind, which isn't randomly generated. Amazing job then BGS. :celebrate:
