Will the AI actually be smart enough to fill the objective r

If you guys want some concrete evidence of Splash Damage's bot-programming skills, you could try playing ET:QW. There's a free demo available, and that's all you'll need to see that the bots are able to understand their environment and accomplish objectives. They do the primary objective, they heal you and give you ammo when you need it, they place turrets and mines in useful places. In the four years since ET:QW came out, these devs can't have gotten worse at this.

They love placing mines on stuff you need to hack. Really annoying.

There is an answer here http://brutalgamer.com/2010/10/04/brink-splash-damage-interview-with-neil-alphonso/

from Neil Alphonso, Lead Designer...

BG: Bots are having a resurgence in recently announced titles.A big concern with bots are their AI.Are the bots in Brink good enough to sustain someone offline?

NA: Oh yeah.I think the best thing for that is the shows we’ve been doing. Some have been co-op and some multiplayer and generally people don’t know who the bots are.
Sometimes they don’t know they are playing with bots they think they are other people in another room they are playing against.Something we’ve been very big to do,and this is not true of some of our earlier games, our bots were really supposed to be like multiplayer players.
They will team kill you, tea bag you, basically we removed all that stuff. We wanted them to be the best of what human players are.
I think that’s why people want to play with bots more and more. They aren’t going to swear at you like 12 year olds do.We don’t want players doing it.We don’t encourage it in the game as we want team work.

From Pax west and East people said the they couldnt tell teh diffrence between teh AI and human players and if you watch teh "jolly" video hes actually having a pretty rough time. im not surew if you can se teh diffuculty and from teh vids it looks liek the AI focus on their opposite AI counterparts. as in the AI on ur team focus o nteh enemies AI do your uman team focuses on the teh other human players. just an observation. Enjoy.

I hope the AI is good but not too good....

I wouldn't want to encourage people to put it on cruise-control the whole match and basically leeching XP from the AI :P

I have high hopes for Brink, it has many elements to it that almost 90% of the mature gaming community would put in if they developed an FPS game themselves.

No worries,I remember reading that you dont get any XP at all when you have a bot playing your character. Wish I could remember where but the last few weeks has been a blur

So if a match is made, and only 13 people join the match, 3 AI will join? Or can u have less than 16 players on a team? Or is that only in custom matches?

Btw, welcome to the forums, Dark_Star! Here is a :turtle:

They scrapped bot control of in-game players a while back too.

It was confirmed in one of the Brink Compendium updates, I think? I know it's been confirmed multiple places, but that's the only one I can think of right now.

Apparently the system wasn't working right for that part, so they made it so AI only takes over when you disconnect (and the game disconnects you if you're idle for too long)

Some games have extremely competent AI. I bet they could do an extremely adequate job of playing the objective. They are probably better than a lot of real players.

Thanks for clearing that up
