"will the civil war factions be morrowinds great houses?"

No, they'll be Union Empire and Confederates Rebels.

I think what he means isn't whether they're actually going to be the Morrowind great houses (which would be obviously silly, this being Skyrim and not Morrowind) but whether they'll fill the same role in the game as the great houses did in Morrowind, i.e., providing you with alternative factions to the Guilds that play against each other.

To which I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.

I think what the OP meant was if we could get political stuff, wars... conflicts etc between certain actors of power. Not literally great houses, because they obviously don't belong in Skyrim.
Political stuff does not equal Morrowind.
Political stuff resembles to Morrowind, because they made it was really well-made there.

I want political stuff. Not too much, not too little. Oblivion had... none?
I think that since Skyrim will include a civil war we can almost for sure say it will be political stuff included :)

I was a little worried when there was only about half a sentence about there being a civil war in the entire 14 page article...
I hate to say it, but I don't think the factions will have any depth or complicated politics

They could be like the great houses in that they fight over territory, and that the player would only be able to join/help out one, all that good political stuff... But they wouldn't be the great houses themselves. Those are located in Morrowind. Or what's left of it.

Since it's a civil war I would have to say that it could be similar to Morrowind. You choose which side to join forces with and help them win the battle for control of Skyrim. It's just a guess, but it's a good guess.
