Will the main story be really short?

Post » Wed Oct 05, 2011 9:08 pm

According to the proposed list of achievements people have posted about http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/elder-scrolls-v/achievements/, I'm really frightened that the main quest is going to be really short.

According to those achievements, there are 8 quests, of which it looks like 1 may be a tutorial quest, leaving just 7 story based ones.. Fallout had 14, 3 of which were tutorial leaving 11 story based. And Oblivion had a whopping 17, of with only 1 tutorial quest.

So either the quests are really long, or the main quest is really short. Is anyone else concearned?

Not really, they say it will be longer then the fallout NV one, and be around 30 hours long. And don't forget they have put alot of effort in the side/miscellaneous quests.

With every game I concern if the main questline is long or not. I always do. and mostly I am right :S but we'll see and just don't concern too much about it.

Hmmm. I had not heard that. I just hope it's better than the NV one, which was really dragged out...

I remember they said that the Oblivion main quest would be something like 20 hours long, that turned out to be a complete lie as I completed it in like, 8 hours.

It could just be that you don't get an achievement for each quest.

Maybe an achievement for every other quest which if there's 7 achievements would mean about 14 quests.

Plus I would expect them to be quite long quests, so I'm not currently worried until I get chance to play the game...

Basing MQ time off of the trophy list isn't a good idea. There's not a trophy for every single Quest and some of those could be long and in depth like some of Fallout 3's.

Nobody really knows the length of each main quest, plus that list of achievements could be incomplete or not every main quest has one, maybe just the bigger ones, maybe some quests are divided into smallers ones that combine into one big one.

When did they start giving achievements for every quest in the main line?

Oh right, they didn't.

The achievement list has nothing to do with the length of a game... EVERY xbox game only allows 50 achievements .. so whether it's 25 hours or 2 hours long.. there will still be 50.. the only way there can be more is
1. if your playing the PC version or
2. they come out with an expansion , which each expansion also is allowed 50

There are some games that have more than 50 achievements, did you mean that games only allow for 1000 Gamerscore?

^This. There will likely be important quests in between the ones that unlock trophies, filler quests so to speak, quests that keep the pace of the story moving forward. I doubt Bethesda wants to just throw trophies in your direction for having a pulse (much like how Oblivion was, honestly). :tops:

Hmmm......did oblivion have an achievement for every MQ Quest? Nope, they are just the quests that you will remember the most e.g Bleak Falls Barrow will probably be the first Word wall you encounter.

There could always be lacking some quests

Or do you think the guilds will only have 3 quests each?

Yeah, most of them are in and around 50, but there are exceptions, the infamous Avatar only has 6 while the Orange box has over 90.

Okay, okay, guys. I get your point. I play on PC and for Fallout 3 and New Vegas you got an achievement for EVERY main quest, and then some. It really was rediculous. It's cool that Xbox is more held back and doesn't just vomit them on you as you play...

Really?

I just checked my Steam, and there are no achievements available for Fallout.

Maybe they split the main quests up? "Main Quest 1 - part 1" "Main Quest 1 - part 2" ect. I wouldn't worry about it.

This post makes no sense, since when did having an achievements for every quests have anything to do with Call of Duty? You do realise that every one of Oblivion's achievements were quest related and all of Fallout 3's quests had achievements to go with them, right?

The achivements seem to be more spaced out through different things in the game.
