Are you sure about that? I've never seen a mask on a Dark Brotherhood hood.

I can confirm that. NPCs and followers in the Dark Brotherhood have masks. I hope this get fixed as it is very irritating.

Really? I've never seen it, myself, so perhaps this isn't an issue exclusive to consoles?

I'd also be interested in seeing a screenshot or two, if you have one available.

They do have masks. I'm looking at one of the followers in the DB right now. And there is nothing wrong with the PS3. At least not for me.

I'm on 360.

The Dark Brotherhood cowls that you get for your character definitely do not have masks. It threw me because, when I first saw Astrid in her full getup, her cowl had a mask. I expected to be able to look cool like she did. Then I tried on my cowl when it was handed to me and :sadvaultboy:

Don't ever expect it to get fixed. For all we know, the cowls were never meant to have masks.

I don't actually care about it, because I so very rarely see my character (1st person view ftw).

hm I have one with a mask and one without, but the masked one was pickpocketed from Astrid when I first met her. Didn't realize that was the only way you had access to it (or I suppose killing her).

Console version myself, no masks. Astrid has one on when you meet her the first time in the shack. Roaming around the brotherhood and one of the quests later where you have your fortune told has gotten me various hoods. Some of them explicitly say uncovered or cowl-less, can't remember proper term, at work, but they all look the same, no ninja type mask over the face unfortunately.

I have this very problem, and I am 100% certain there is a bug or a meta-game mistake there. I had the Dark Brotherhood cowl and it didn't cover my face as it should. I then put it on a mannequin, and sure enough, there the mask was, plain as day. It's not about confusing the maskless cowl with the masked one, the mask just doesn't show on the player character, at least on PS3.

Actually I think the mask only works for female characters, haven't seen a male assassin with a mask on. Don't know if it's a bug or not...But I hope Bethesda can fix it

Yeah i was also dissapointed about this lol
I saw astrid and was like :D im gonna look cool as soon as im in!!
Then when i got my cowl it didnt have a mask...

It must be a glitch because of the manniquin thing and also later on you can pick up "worn shrowded cowl" and in the inventory it has a mask visible on it!!!!
I was like :D finally time to look cool!!!
Then it ended up glitching out just like the one before it....

I gotta stop goin :D

As someone else said, there are 2 different versions of the same hood. One with a mask and one without. They have the exact same stats. On my assassin, I was given the one with the mask by astrid. I found the maskless one on the bookshelf next to astrid sitting next to some other pieces of db armor. I would assume it would be the same for everyone else but I guess not. Maybe it depends on the gender of your character. My assassin is a female.

I had that same thought too, actually - thinking about it now, I don't believe I've ever seen a masked male, either. So I guess it does work as it should for females, but I don't know whether it's a bug or not. I would assume it is, though.

I also have both versions, I took one from the bookshelf in the room you first talk to astrid in and I got the other when I joined "for real", I could have looted several more while going through the quest but didn't bother, I'm playing on Xbox360.

OP needs to play with his eyes open.

Lol
This has got to be a bug cuz when you think about it
If males werent meant to have a masked version
Then they wouldnt of had a masked and maskless version of each cowl
Also the nightingale hood has a working mask as well
I heard it might be a racial glitch as well
Like "you must be an impierial or dark elf race and must have no beard"

Also some hoods dont even appear on khajiits and argonians as well....

Idk...im just hoping its a glitch and not a design choice
1. It doesnt make sense
2. Bethesda is a company that has to cater to all wants and needs in thier games and if it was deliberate then this was a "duuuurrrrrr" moment for them

Lol just bein funny but its kinda like they were typing in the code and that scene from family guy happened where the wall street guy gets hit with a golf ball while saying what to put stock into?
"yes you wan to put your shares in -smack- WAFFLES TASTY WAFFLES!!!!

how the hell is that even remotely irritating. Talk about exaggerating an issue. How often do you look at the face of your character? I have seen mine like 4 times in 80+ hours

I like to pretend I am the character so for me it's annoying when I'm suppose to be an assassin but my identity is not covered by the mask I'm supposed to use. It's not the issue I would set as first priority but I would like it to be fixed. Savvy?

you can find both types at the end of the DB quest. they might have been there the whole time on a book shelf but i only noticed them on there after i was at the very end of the DB questline.

From my understanding, I believe there are two different types of hoods. There is one without a mask, and one with a mask. Maskless is the one you get when you join the Brotherhood, and the Masked version you need to find. I believe you can find it through the Dark Brotherhood quest.
