There are enough "Hype engines" turning on at this thing as it is... I also doubt that Bethesda will say anything about TES 5 until the second book comes out. So, I am taking the cynnical route on this and saying no. I'm still pulling for E3, and the release will be in Q4 of 2010 or Q1 of 2011.

I really hope Bethesda surprises us somehow. They LOVE surprising their fans, and when they do the forums just spontaneously combust, like with Oblivion. I'd love, just suddenly during the VGA, BAM TES V RIGHT NAOOOOO

I swear, if they say he's in the game, I'm buying it just to see if THIS celebrity gets more than 30 seconds of dialog before being killed off. And if it's all one word (DECAPITATIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!) I'll laugh, but be pissed later.

I highly doubt that. They'll wait to announce until they have something fairly polished to show, to be sure, but 1) it defeats the whole point of the "hyping your game to get better sales" strategy to announce your game and then release it virtually at the same time because its done, and 2) announcing when it's done and then purposely delaying the game to hype it would be a rather large waste of money and purchasing windows.

Either way, poll notwithstanding, isn't this essentially identical to the current discussion in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1060989?

No it won't be announced. I hate to say it, but the game won't be announced till after the second book release. I personally feel the books were made so that Beth could appease us for a short time -- while they got seriously working on TESV. Beth doesn't announce anything till it is almost done and completley set in stone (AKA no possibilities that later fail and get us all pissed off)

Bethesda don't need to hype anything. TES is a series that it's hard to attract new people to

I'm not saying they won't, you're probably right, but the RPG community is pretty solid and TES:V marketing would be lost within the mass of mundane activity #12 hero, super mario land 189 and other cookie cutter games that are shoved down the throats of todays 'modern, upbeat and edgy consumer.'

Even though they all svck, and I'm guessing TES fans aren't swayed by such stupidity

Doubtful. I agree with the 'after book two' theory, myself, but I'd be happy to see a teaser screenshot or something like that.

As for hype, I think TES is kinda like Halo; its mere name is hype enough. It has a loyal fanbase and it really doesn't need any more promotion than an announce to excite people.

No TES so far. Although, The Force Unleashed 2 did look highly awesome, so that softens the blow a bit.

Hmm... what they showed trailers for was Crackdown 2, a new Prince of Persia game (part of the Sands of Time story, not the newer one), and another Rock Band game (Green Day, this time).

I tuned in too late to catch this, but they evidently also announced Batman Arkham Asylum 2, as well.
