Well, to be honest, the TES series is not the greatest series of RPGs ever made. Morrowind came damn close, but still not the best. The next TES game has massive potential, yes, but I doubt it'll be a contender for "Best RPG of all Time". Perhaps "Best Sandbox of All Time" is a possibility, but I still doubt that (GTA: Vice City is my personal best sandbox of all time).

Problem is that the Elder Scrolls talks about 5 scrolls. Skyrim is the last Elder Scroll game. So no there won't be another Elder Scrolls game. The Prophecy has come to an end with Skyrim depicting the 5th and final scroll. Only thing that Bethesda can do is create another series in a similar world or totally different RPG as entirely.

Lolwut? Not sure if serious.

If you are trying to discredit movie criticism...you really should step back. However game critics are of a different judgement. It's a young professionalism...still controlled by popularity and hype. Some deserving though.
I only mention the movie critics (as an anology of the GOTY title) because I for one will see a movie regardless of whether or not people such as Ebert and Roper like it or not. If you decide to watch a movie or not based upon what they say, that's your choice, but shouldn't you see it for yourself, to decide. Even previews and trailers can give you enough of an idea to form your own opinion.

"...still controlled by popularity and hype." Exactly! How hyped was Skyrim? (rhetorical)

Elderscrolls games have gone by region they are set in, not by "which prophecy does this refer to", so no worries, there are plenty of regions left in Tamriel.

Hammerfell would be a good place. That is if they ever get back to making a true RPG game.

Hammerfall was part of Daggerfall, along with High Rock. I wouldn't think they'd return to an already used province.

Arena - you traveled to many provinces during the main quest.

Well they had to throw in some typical dragon's just to make Skyrim interesting. Without them it would have been pretty tame. So.. why not revisit the past but do it right this time and focus more on immersion and lore than flickering shadows and trimming file size.

I'm hoping for Summerset Isle. Would be nice to have a more exotic setting.

I'd like the next TES to take place in the Altmer territory too , the Summerset isle , the architecture and landscape could be a challenge for the art directors but if they do a work as excellent as they did with Skyrim , it's going to be really nice to wander the Elven cities and countryside (i hope they make far bigger cities in the next one though ) , also it is a land where Mages and Magic plays an important role so i think it can give plenty of ideas to the developpers to make an interesting world

Would that infer a return of Spell Making?

I hope so Uldred :)

I think mods will bring that to Skyrim soon , and i suspect Bethesda will integrate it in the next expansion or dlc , cause it's one of the most popular request on the forum

What, they didn't do Daggerfall right the first time for lore and role playing? IMO, it was done very well and is still the best in the series for me. I don't want to re-visit an area I already experienced int the TES regions and lore.

Yes, I want SM back so much. IMO, it was a mistake to remove that ability in Skyrim. Hopefully, the modders will create a robust spell-making system.

To the OP: well, at this "streamlining" pace I doubt TES will be a rpg for the next installment.

With PS4 and X720, the next systems will be sure to be in line with the best specs the PC will offer at the time, even better.
Do you think the game will be much more massive? I hope they will create a new engine and there really shouldn't be no excuse to have so many glitches and bugs next time around since the systems will be that much more powerful and capable to handle it.

I'd like to point out that, as it stands, optimistic estimates for the beginning of the next generation of consoles put them in the 2015 range. More reliable estimates put it more around 2017. This is because of technical limitations, and all other 'new' products between then and now are likely to be gimmics to keep people playing with outdated technology.

As such, unless Bethesda works closely with the console designers of the future to create a game tailor made for the console, and launches during said consoles release, we will probably have a new TES game BEFORE we have new consoles. At the same time, multi-platform games are extremely rare for console releases because the console companies are highly protective of their products during development, and are unlikely to allow a compant access to their tech while said company is also working with a rival. That is why release titles are almost always exclusives.

All of that said, do i think TES6, whatever it is and whenever it comes out, has to potential to be an absolutely killer RPG? Yes. But that has more to do with how Bethesda approaches it than whatever platform they decide to launch it on.

I think Bethesda is massively over rated.. But i do like tamrielic lore.. so...

Engine- Crytek
Level design- Valve and ubisoft
Main group for Sound design- Amnesia dev's
playtested by- Valve
Published by- Valve
Models done by- someone not bethesda
Combat- someone not bethesda
Rpg elements- A fan of earlier Tes games
Attention to detail- valve

Just get valve to do it ok? They have NO EXPERIENCE making huge open worlded games but they've done just about every other type of game, balance them well and have infinite funds and no deadlines

It wont be released.. but.. go valve?

To the OP: It will depend more or less on how much people are willing to think when they play. It seems nowadays RPG's are about attacking and think later instead of the traditional RPG's where you think and then attack later.

Bethesda always takes technological advancements that occur between the previous two Elder Scrolls games.

So any technological advancements from 2007 to 2011 will be featured in Elder Scrolls VI.

The destructible environments from Crysis.
The flammable environments from FarCry 2.
The horses from Red Dead Redemption.
The facial animation from LA Noire.
Euphoria from Natural Motion
The character animation from Battlefield 3.

I see you haven't lost your optimism.
Good.

It would be great to see all those in TES VI and then some more.

*BUT*

The basics will always matter.
Good storytelling will never have its throne usuped by more powerful tech.

Then we will yet again get a shallow empty game with focus on graphics instead of a deep and huge rpg.

Just for comparisons sake, here's a useful map;

The yellow is the part of Hammerfell we see in Daggerfall. IT'S A TINY FRACTION OF THE PROVINCE.
