Will the valtheim bug (companion quest) be fixed in 1.4 patc

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 1:15 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm currently stucked (and this, on all my remaining saves on my lev51 character) on the companion "striking the heart" quest because i already cleared the Valtheim tower and the cursor is pointing to nothing. I've tried to wait 30 game days but nothing appeared (no respawn)

Does someone know if this quest bug will be fixed in 1.4 (i have some fears because it wasn't written in the 1.4 release notes but i understood we could have more than foreacsted in the 1.4 patch)

If any official can answer, it would be nice (because i don't want to restart with a lv51 character now...)

Thanks

PS: I'm on xbox360, so no console commands for me...

I have a glitch with the companion quest "Trouble in Skyrim." I cleared out a camp and return to Farkas to turn it in and there is no dialogue option to complete the quest. It is really annoying b/c I can't complete any more companion quests. I am still waiting on an official answer to my post a few days ago. Someone thought patch 1.4 should fix quest problems. I was also told not to go into any caves, mines etc, unless directed by a quest, b/c it can screw up future missions. I sure hope patch 1.4 fixes these game play issues b/c it really hinders the experience. Good luck!

I'm in exactly the same position as Marco38. I can't complete the quest as I killed everyone before picking the quest up. The bandit leader's body has the arrow above it, but I can't do anything to complete the quest and so I can't continue with the Companions. It may not be a game-breaker, but it sure feels like it.

Wait out the 30 day respawn period then return.

If you cleared out a camp or fort relating to a quest, yet you cant complete with the quest giver, more than likely you wiped the place out soon before you got the quest and you cant kill the specific npc you're supposed to kill. If this happens wait a period of time for area to reset then kill the specific bandit or whomever. I also had a similar problem, yet i remember simply getting another radiant quest from another companion and forgetting about the bugged one.

Quote from UESPwiki:

This quest uses the Radiant Quest System to randomly generate a target location and waypoint for the objectives. In some cases the waypoint will lead to a random spot adjacent to the designated quest location. This is caused when the player has previously killed the Silverhand leader. Currently only PC users can fix this using console commands. This happens quite frequently at Valtheim Towers

I recently started a new game on patch 1.4 (original playthrough only had minor issues but i moved the save to a memory unit just incase i wanted to continue with it) and one of the first bounty quest's sent me to Valtheim tower's which i have cleared out, also started the Companions questline a few hour's after that so i am not that far into said questline yet but your post is a little worrying! another strange thing is the bodies have been cleared, i am not sure if the 30 day timer has been altered but i went past this location 4-5 days in game after i cleared it (on my way to Ivarstead for main quest) and there are no corpse's whatsoever!

Anyhoo i have been using UESPwiki for prevention/workaround's, for example after finishing proving honour with Farkas, you have to do another radiant quest before 'unlocking' the next main quest in that questline so naturally i saved before speaking to anyone, got my quest but looked up the location it take's place just to see if any other possible quest's (non-radiant of course) take place in that location, it did so i simply reloaded and asked the same person again which switched the location to one that does not have any other quest's tied to it.

I have to admit this way is a minor spoiler but i guess it's the best way to avoid any problematic bugs :/
