Hey, If Will O' the 'wisps are only visible at night and i've heard that they are. and i've also read, thru this forum that the best way to handle these things is thru ranged attack. i have some silver arrows and a steel bow which is good. but in order to shoot with my bow, i have to able to see my bow +arrows in the first place, and i have torches but i can't use them 'cause i can't hold them, am i making sense? and these things are aggressive and fast aren't they? please help thanx

Ummm no.... they are visible in the daylight. Perhaps they are hard to see because they are yellow, in bright daylight, I can see how some might find that a problem. Detect life it.... I use my bow which is enchanted with fire, and it takes them down in two hits.... But then again, as an Atronach, I don't want to kill them until I get my magicka back. They are my free magicka fuel stations. They will also fall quickly to a touch fire spell.

Yes, they are very fast. Other characters, who are just starting out, and are not Atronachs run for their lives for a couple levels until I can get my hands on a good enchanted bow.

They are visible day or night. They can go invisible, but detect life can counter that. I'm not sure I understand your question about seeing your bow and arrow. Use detect life and shoot the pink glow. They only have magical on touch attacks and are immune to poison, normal weapons and paralysis. Yes, they are aggressive and fast. Here are three good tactics:

1. Snipe from long range with an enchanted bow. This is what my character does and it works very well for her.
2. Blast from a distance with magic.
3. If you are good with melee, use a powerful enchanted (or daedric or silver or blah blah blah) weapon and kill them very quickly. Be prepared to repair your attributes after the fight.

1. Use a silver or bound bow.
2. Simplest way to fix damaged attributes is pray at a chapel.
3. Fire spells will work well.

Most of my characters use a Headless Zombie as a meat shield that does decent damage to them and shoot them full of holes.

Yeah Wisps actually slaughtered me the first time I ever encountered them in the game from that point on I always use way to much force... just in case.

Atronach+Alchemy

Is your soultion to every thing Alchemy?

If you spend quite a lot of time around here, you'll know Zak's alchemy theory. Personally, I don't use it. But from a few tests I've done, it certainly seems to work.

Wizards Fury works well with these ghastly beasties.

you can use silver or enchanted arrows, frost spells work fine, and id buy the weakest life detect spell and then make enchanted stuff with it. Or hunt for life detect sigul stones, at high levels you can get insanely far life detect off of them

Silver arrows will work just fine,as will deadric arrows along with any ole bow you happen to have.
A silver,enchanted or deadric bow is better because you can use any arrows you happen to have and you don't need to worry about running out of arrows.

There attacks are fairly straight forward if you don't have detect life just shoot them where you last saw them.
They tend to come straight at you so they don't move around much.

They have a weakness to fire so fire works much better.I'm not sure if they have the same resistance to cold as ghost's do but I think they do,better to use the frost spells against other things.
