Will the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions be proper?

Post » Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:26 am

Well.. We all know how ugly Oblivion turned out on consoles, despite the devs having over a year of work time on them... I really hope they will optimise the console version properly imo.

If you want to see awesome console graphics, look no further than Rage or Crysis 2! The consoles are not weak.

I'd not want to see another game where the PC version is prioritized. We've seen enough of that, 2 be honest.

They've worked on it for five years. It'll be fine.

The trailer was filmed on a 360, and that, ALREADY, looks fantastic. They have the best part of a year to work on that. They've been building Skyrim since Oblivion. Even through Fallout they were developing the idea. They have listened to what people didn't like in Oblivion, and even Fallout, and they have taken everything on board. And they are well aware that the console and even PC version didn't turn out like expected. Which is why, with a brand new engine, crafted from the ground up, they can truly create a brilliant looking worl that won't fall at the first hurdle. This time, The Elder Scrolls WILL be as good as it looks.

Oblivion wasn't ugly for it's time. Also while it's nice, graphics are not improtant. I rather have great game play and good graphics and not crappy game play and OMG graphics.

Also you must be a troll if you saw the video that Bethesda gave out, since you can see how good it looks and it was made from the 360. So are you trolling or honestly don't know?

as long as the fps (frames per second) is stable and freezing is rare/nonexistent, i'm okay with it.

Remember Bethesda's RPGs need to be able to render a continuous open world with a large number of NPCs and interactive items. Most other games are divided in to separate levels, have tighter locations, and also have far fewer NPCs and interactive items. Bethesda even noted that they weren't using id tech 5 as it was better are tighter locations rather than really expansive worlds - although Bethesda almost certainly had a working engine for TES V before id even joined the Zenimax family so it was probably a moot point anyway.

At it's time oblivion had amazing graphics. i dont care to much witch looks better, more witch runs smoother. Aslong as they dont scrap features for consoles but keep them for p.c.
I guess the good thing about a PC is that you can get mods.

Then why was Oblivion considered one of the best looking games when it released?

Yes. And a few months after we got far better looking games.

Fact is, Oblivion was released in the first batch. It was competing with 2nd rate games mostly - and obviously they won't have good graphics.

In your OP you said the devs had over a year to work with the consoles. I think the reason for your concern is that you were misinformed. Beth didn't get final hardware specs on the 360 until very late into development. That's never good for optimization.

oblivion suffered from avatar syndrome. when you first see it it looks pretty good..........and then you start walking around and notice the low res textures, lack of shadows (which other games had implemented at the time) really awful pop-up. it was the first gen on consoles though and they only had 6 months or so to work with the system so its not entirely their fault.

games that are prioritized for the PC look better period. the witcher 2 compared to dragon age 2 is a good example of one company designing around the consoles and the other designing around the PC. its also easy to scale graphics down to work on consoles since PC games have had graphics sliders forever for weaker PCs.

And oblivion still kicked those "better looking'' games [censored]'s

Oh please. FINAL hardware is the keyword here. They'd many months of beta-hardware to work on.

You're missing the point. Until then you're only going to accept what you want to hear.

Oblivion, regardless of if played on console or not, was one of the most visually astounding games ever, it still is. There still aren't many game's that can match it's environments.

The OP is just begging for an argument isn't he? No matter what we say, he has an excuse for it so we are always wrong. So if you are so disallusioned with Bethesda why are you here? If Skyrim is going to svck, why stick around on the forums then?

It seems someone pooped in your corn flakes this morning.

I just find it funny how you are saying 100 000s of people are wrong and you are right when they said Oblivion was an awsome game and fun to play with and beautiful to see. So the OP is right and everyone else is wrong eh?

Umm no. We didn't get a game that beat Oblivion in graphics until nearly two years later and it was PC only (Crysis) and that game was in production at the end of Oblivion's production, that is 3 years difference in tech.
