Since Oblivion and Fallout 3 I lost my confidence that Bethesda will make tons of fun quests in their future games. Fallout New Vegas is surprisingly good, with tons of activities and fun quests. Oblivion had insufficient quests and Fallout 3 was simply empty IMO.

So will there be another company available to actually make a fun game using the Skyrim engine?

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are incredible. Far superior to Fallout: New Vegas as far as I'm concerned.

Save for one concern I have regarding Skyrim, that may or may not even be a credible concern, I'm not worried about Skyrim in the least bit.

So bethesda will give away their child even though they arent suffering from being bankrupt? That would be the only reason TES would go to a oitside devolper.

And if that happens i will be sad :sadvaultboy:

I can't tell if this is a serious post or a troll. =/
Because New Vegas was probably the worst game in the last 5 years.

Honestly, other than the game engine improvements, New Vegas was worse in every way. I would MUCH MUCH rather play Fallout 3 anyday. If I had to pick one of them to be unmade, it would be NV in an instant.

I don't really know how anyone can honestly say they liked Fallout 3 more than New Vegas. New Vegas had so many more options it was ridiculous, not to mention there were actually challenging enemies. It really shouldn't surprise people that the company (for the most part) behind the first 2 Fallouts made a better Fallout game than Bethesda. I don't hate FO3, I enjoyed it quite a bit really, (minus the ending) but FO:NV was much better IMO.

TES has always been my favorite franchise though, so I am biased and I do think Oblivion was better than both of them. I also think Skyrim will be better than all of said games, and I am not worried. The only thing I've seen I was even slightly disappointed about was the map, and that isn't a major problem.

I hate to say it, but the majority of fans would disagree on that point. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are some of my most played RPG's, alongside Morrowind and Mass Effect.

I got 100's of hours from Bethesda's latest titles. Could they use more work? Of course! Nothing is perfect. I enjoyed New Vegas a lot, but it did lack a certain charm. I'd personally like to see Bethesda learn and grow as developers, to improve their worse areas, rather than just throwing their IP's (especially TES) to third party companies.

I disagree. I actually found it to be one the best - although not perfect - games in recent years. And thus I also see no reason the question the seriousness of the OP.

I'd suggest you play something else. If you don't like Beth games, you'd be better off posting on the boards of a company whose games you do like. No point in wasting precious time and energy on games not to your taste.

Meanwhile, I'll count the days till November 11.

Bethesda would never do this with their own series. It was cool with NV, because it was developed by a lot of the original creators of the Fallout franchise. With TES, it would not make sense.

The idea of someone using the engine for their own open world game is interesting, but I can't imagine any other company doing TES better than Bethesda.

Nothing wrong with New Vegas, but it shows that Obsidian is not used to open world games because there isn't a whole lot to see, and they still try to direct you down a certain path.

Yep, pretty much this. Why post here if you don't like beths games? That doesn't even make sense. Get a life.

Um... Bethesda maybe? You can't really say Skyrim isn't fun, having not played it.

I much prefer New Vegas to Fallout 3, to the point where I can hardly play F3 anymore. Elder Scrolls is something I think should stay with Bethesda though, it's their baby. Obsidian is made up of some of the people who created the original Fallouts which is why (in my opinion of course) New Vegas felt a lot better, it was their baby, they know it better.

New Vegas was better than Oblivion, but Fallout 3 didn't have constant invisible walls guiding you on where to go in the Wasteland... New Vegas is much better once you get over that though. :D

Never played new Vegas, but I loved Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 (though I prefer fantasy to sci-fi so Fallout wasn't as much of my thing) and have no reason to believe they'll drop the ball on Skyrim. I do think that if they wanted to make a TES spin-off maybe another dev team could step in, but I don't really see any reason for it.
