Will there be any form of KDR tracking on the XBOX360/PS3?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 8:43 am

I'm just a little curious if this game will track stats such as KDR/ Win-Loss/ Accuracy/ Playtime etc. I understand that this game is completely focused on teamplay and such, and I completely agree with the anti-camping tactics Brink introduces. I just like to look at my stat page and see how I'm doing on all scales of the game, not just Win/Loss, which Im sure this game tracks. As long as the end of the game doesnt present everyones KDR, but there is a seperate stat page for yourself to see, I would greatly enjoy that. Comments?

and fyi, no I'm not a camper, booster or glitcher who cares solely on KDR to determine if a person is good or not, but I believe it is a nice stat page to be able to look at and see how your progressing. Thanks :)

No leaderboards, KDR, Accuracy, or even W/L is included in the game. The only stat I think MAY be there is total XP earned.

See compendium in my signature.

Obligatory :turtle: Donteatit

No leaderboards, however, I've heard that at the end of each match, it will display your kills and deaths for that match.

This is good to hear since recording such useless things as KDR, W/L ratios only cause more problems than what those things are worth. Only record track you should care is being a good teammate, nothing more, and nothing less.

Donner, this is for you. Just because I love you. :turtle: :celebration: :turtle:

You don't just get a turtle, you get two turtles being bathed with champagne. Fancy turtles, I wouldn't be surprised if they have little turtle monocles, top hats, and canes.

Tally ho!

Well back on topic before the dear mods get on us for spam. I am just glad that people can focus on this game without worrying about leaderboards that usually end up hacked anyway.

That is not entirely true. Splash damage has kept stats for all its game on its website. Since this is their first console game I'd imagine you can at least look up your stats.
Also for PC dedicated servers have log files that keep stats that server admins can do what they like with as well as splash damage.
For Brink we asked them about stats in our interview at PAX East. They said they haven't finalized everything with stats.
As far as in game it has a leaderboard, K/D and a few other things etc in game for the game you are in. So expect game and lifetime stats probably on release.
If you don't want to see them then you don't have to hit the key to look at it.

Oh by the way I'd like a turtle plz

Yes, they have done it in the past with W:ET and ET:QW

Last I had heard, they were not going to put in persistent stats, because that leads to people focusing on personal goals rather than team goals. So saying it was done in past games does not hold any weight.

It is possible that servers will be able to provide it, that would be their choice, but it will only be for games you play in that server, if the server keeps track of it for you.

The players are ranked in game by exp earned within that match. The part that SD was debating was whether or not K/D would be shown in game, or only after the game. From all of the dev comments I have seen, there is no intent to provide persistent stat tracking.

So as it stands, definitely do not expect any persistent stats. Server stats MAY be POSSIBLE, but are by no means guaranteed.

No turtle for you, you are spreading assumed (false) information

EDIT: Checked the interview you linked, all it says is
In enemy territory we captured a bunch of statistics. We don't know where we will expose those statistics..possibly on the internet. We haven't really talked about it much. Don't worry, that will come later. Coming soon

Yes, there might be stats, but they will probably not be KDR or W/L, as they have said those reinforced bad teamplay, not taking risks when you should, team switching, etc.

I think you can expect stats related to objective completion if anything. So you aren't completely wrong, ill take back my previous aggressiveness, but I still see no chance of the typical stats appearing unless they cave under public demand.

I personally support their choice of removing K/D.

We along with many others played it at PAX. Trust me K/D is shown in game unless they decide to take it out later it will be there.
As far as K/D as a persistent stat you are correct it may or may not be in. According to them they haven't made a final decision on what will go up but there will definitely be a way to see personal achievements and stats
At least that's what they told us 2 weeks ago. Your welcome to listen for yourself :foodndrink:

So what achievements and stats will be trackable by the game? [us]

I should clarify my statement, There will be a place to see some information about your play history. That was my main point, we just don't know exactly what it will contain and quite frankly SD doesn't know completely yet either it seems.
It may or may not have KDR. My statement was in regards to stats and achievements in general.
You are correct in that they want to promote team play. I think they will be emphasizing achievements over stats. Richard Ham is a big fan of achievements but like you said they will probably focus on multiplayer achievements.
Especially with XBOX and PC with Steam you pretty much have to have them. I'd be happy with mostly team contribution type achievements and stats like objectives taken, heals, ammo given and other team based stats.
When we talked to them they emphasized you get more XP for giving others ammo rather than using it for yourself. We'll have to see where they go with KDR, other stats and also how far they go with achievements.
We should have another podcast interview with them in a few weeks so maybe Horse or I will ask them then.

I think not showing Kills and Deaths in the post game is a deal breaker for me.

You don't HAVE to put them first or make them seem important, but there should be a spot for them. Even if it isn't the main point of the game many people prefer to use k/d as a way to track their progress in the game. I know it's not a "lone wolf" game but unless you have a 'clan' of sorts it can be hard otherwise to keep track of how well your skills at the game are improving. People with specific groups can more reliably get objectives regardless of their individual skill against a group made up of people who are unfamiliar with each other. Thus people who don't have a clan would be hard pressed to track their personal skill by objective gains.

Anyway, not everyone likes to be the one going right at the objective or throwing out support. Some people like clearing areas or keeping enemies off the back of objective minded individuals. How will people with this form of play style track their progress? Or is SD just going to lock an entire segment of the FPS community out of their game for fear of 'hurting people's feelings'?

This is the first time I've come on this board and this is my largest concern. I am highly intrigued by an ultra-mobile (thus highly tactical) class based FPS but my play style varies on my mood. If I cannot tell how well I am doing in a match for my certain play style then it really makes me not want to get the game at all. Other games have post-game stats that show kills, deaths, and objectives. Why should Brink be different and dissuade a huge portion of the market from purchasing the game?

Note: This is all a hypothetical. I have no clue whether or not kills and deaths are recorded. I just know in an interview they say they don't show k/d

Can't they just put a stat tracker in the game but keep it private? As in you can only see your own stats?

Don't really see the problem with that.
