After Elder Scrolls V will there be any more Elder Scrolls? If so how many?

Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls M will be THE final game in the series.

Sensible answer: Yea, they said there WILL be a new game but nothing outside of that yet.

Sorry casual gamer, looks like you'll have to read two books in order to understand what the hell is going on in this game.

I just realized that it's sort of a give away for TES 5 with a TES 5 Ideas and Suggestions topic made by the Moderators and Gstaff

The moderators don't work at Bethesda. They're volunteers.

And they have to make it, otherwise we'd be spammed up the wa-zoo with different threads on ideas for the next elder scrolls.

I vaguely remember reading a magazine article (can't remember which, CGW maybe?) back in 1996 when they first announced Morrowind. The article also mentioned Bethesda's future plans for TES IV and TES V, but said the series will conclude at TES V. I remember being quite troubled by the idea TES would end with the fifth installment and that was 1996!

Of course today's Bethesda wouldn't be bound by an announcement made 13 years ago by a largely different team of developers, but I'm curious if any old-timers here could remember reading something alone these lines or even find an archived news item somewhere on the Internet.

Boy, that'd be horrible if they ended the series at TESV. I'm thinking it might end at TESX. Ya know? Like, V could be Skyrim, VI = Summerset Isle, VII = Elswyr, VIII = Valenwood, IX = Black Marsh, X = Nirn, like the whole planet or something. Geez, TESX wouldn't be out until like, 2040 at the rate Bethesda's going. lol

The speculation threads are simply that, speculation, the fact that moderators start them is to make sure that the basic rules/guidelines for the ongoing conversation remains in order. This conversation can, however, be carried on in that thread.
