Will there be bullet penetration in game?

in some of the videos they are hiding behind pretty thin walls eg: the basics video when the guy gets downed, before he does he takes cover behind a glass door :P

To the best of my knowledge no.

They've said no in the past (there was a thread about this on the SD forums and someone had a link to an old interview about it).

And when they did, it was no environmental or body penetration.

And the guy hiding behind a glass door and not getting hit seems like a fairly good example of "no" to me.

Actually i think there might be in the new video "Get SMART Series: general gameplay" around 2:00 he appears to shoot through the thin border. It could just be that the gun is inaccurate and bullets were going over or something else completely there still some hope for you my friend just not much.

Splash Damage said a few months ago that there is no bullet penetration what so ever.
I think this is a good thing.

I saw a videointerview where it was confirmed that there was NO bullet penetration... Sadly I can't find it :(

Also the video was one of the older interviews, so things might have changed...

just watched the video, and as you said, it actually looks like there are bullet penetration... It might just be lag, but I doubt they would put laggy gameplay into a trailer...

Any new official words from devs?

where exactly do you see bullet penetration in this video? i see the opposite: no penetration - at about 50-60 sec in the video:
guy hiding behind a glass door and recovering.

i would appreciate to see 'consistent' penetration. being able to shoot thru wood but not thru glass seems unlogical, making differences between safety-glass and normal glass is also kinda weird (dont say they do that, just examples...).

but no bullet penetration at all seems to be a good way to go for me, clear gameplay rules increase the competition.

From watching that scene many times over, here's what I think happened:

1 - No bullet penetration, if you watch closely the health bar only appears because you're aiming at the person, it does not go down when the player is shooting the wall.
2 - The guy being shot is a is a medic (we see the heal/buff blue circles above his teammate right at the start) and got nearly incapacitated. It is the same dude that comes running down the stairs, only now he has nearly full health, indicating he probably used self heal.

2:00 is where we are looking at. If you notice he stops shooting aims down at the wall and starts again when he does he get exp which to suggests hes hitting an enemy.

Oh and Overmind there where three enemies two behind the "cover" and one off to the side it look like he hit the one to the right behind cover not the one who ran out. You can see him incapacitated for a split second around the 2:15 mark.

I was iffy at first but now i'm positive there was bullet penetration in that video it might not be when it ships but its there.

I missed that 3rd guy, even in 720p the video is kinda blurry. Still, I'm pretty sure there is no bullet penetration. Notice there is a teammate of the player to the right of him, you see shots coming from the right of the player towards the guys in cover. From the position the blue teammate is at, he can clearly shoot at the guy we see incapacitated later. IMO the health bar is only visible because the player is aiming at the other guy. For the exp thing, as you know pretty much everything gives exp in Brink, it is probably just playing an objective, like the "guard" one that gives a constant flow of exp. Or maybe the numbers are delayed from the actions that give you exp, like many other games. You shoot dude, 1 second later number pops up saying you got X exp for shooting.

It definitely is blurrier than i would like for a 100% confirmation but from what i see there i wouldn't rule out there being some form of bullet penetration in certain objects.

Have to agree there, even though i think there won't be bullet penetration, I can't 100% rule it out. Only a dev statement, another video or actual release of the game can confirm it.

Another possible explanation for the XP earned is that he's close to a defend objective - which earns you a constant stream of XP.

BRINKish.eu: How hard would you say it is to kill another player in Brink? Is there bullet penetration?

A: Keeping in mind that damage is something we’re constantly tuning, in our current play-testing setup it takes around half a clip to take down an enemy if they’re not evading, with headshots doing extra damage on top of that. This is before potential weapon damage buffs and health buffs are taken into account. Brink does not use any bullet penetration for players or the environment.

That's from http://www.brink411.com/server-providers/37-brinkish-qas.html. It is a year old however, I haven't heard otherwise since then.

I hate it. "Oh look, my target ran behind a wall, let's keep spraying that wall with my LMG untill he's dead."
I prefer the good old: Hit your target when you're actually directly aiming at him.
